Summary
The Staff Engineer is a key role responsible for planning designing and overseeing geotechnical engineering projects. The role will work on site investigations analyze soil and rock properties and provide recommendations of construction projects based on their findings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct geotechnical site investigations including soil and rock sampling borehole logging and field testing and present findings to interdisciplinary teams
Analyze geological and geotechnical conditions to assess risks and opportunities for construction project
Manage geotechnical aspects of projects including scheduling budgeting and resource allocation
Coordinate with clients contractors regulatory agencies and subcontractors to ensure project objectives requirements and constraints are met
Communicate project status risks and recommendations effectively to stakeholders
Perform feasibility studies and risk assessments implementing quality assurance processes to address challenges and develop mitigation strategies
Prepare technical reports cost estimates proposals and invoices ensuring compliance with industry standards and client expectations
Evaluate foundation systems including bearing capacity settlement potential slope stability and lateral earth pressure using test data and field exploration results
Recommend costeffective ground improvement techniques such as vibro replacement rigid inclusions and chemical grouting
Conduct or monitor dynamic load testing (PDA) on concrete and steel piles to assess integrity driving stresses and hammer energy
Utilize engineering and design software including AutoCAD Slope/W Seep/W Allpile WEAP and Finite Element Method in GeoStructure to prepare plans and conduct analyses
Ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations and follow all safety procedures and company policies
Attend project meetings provide client proposals and maintain positive relationships to foster future collaborations
Complete and submit required documentation including boring logs (GINT software) daily reports and time/labor records
Remain adaptable to changing schedules overnight or weekend work and business needs

Required Qualifications:
Valid Florida Drivers License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Drivers License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)
Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Floridas Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Geotechnical Engineering or a related field
At least 3 years of experience in geotechnical engineering field investigations or related work
EngineerinTraining (EIT) certification
Fundamental knowledge of soil mechanics foundation design and geotechnical testing methods
Proficiency in geotechnical software such as AutoCAD GINT Slope/W Seep/W Allpile or WEAP
Ability to analyze soil and rock data for foundation and ground improvement recommendations
Strong technical writing and problemsolving skills for reports proposals and risk mitigation strategies
Experience with geotechnical instrumentation field monitoring and construction observation
Ability to perform fieldwork including drilling soil sampling and insitu testing in various conditions
Handson experience with geotechnical lab testing pile load testing (PDA) and slope stability analysis
Familiarity with ground improvement techniques such as vibro replacement rigid inclusions and chemical grouting
Knowledge of local state and federal geotechnical regulations including OSHA safety standards
Strong communication and teamwork skills for coordination with clients contractors and agencies
Preferred Qualifications:
American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certifications
FDOT CTQP Certifications
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Required to drive stand walk use hands to type handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance talk and hear; body motions and movements include bending twisting reaching stooping pulling kneeling lifting carrying and pushing with or without reasonable accommodation

Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle including wetlands swamps grasslands and fields with uneven surfaces sand brush and other natural and manmade obstacles
This job is primarily performed in an office setting but field visits may be required where regular exposure to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud
