Middle and Upper School French and Spanish Teacher

Who We Are:

Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision teaches French and Spanish at various levels. Works collaboratively and cooperatively with other members of the faculty and staff. Serves as an advisor and actively participates in the life of the school outside of classroom teaching responsibilities.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Teaches three sections of Spanish & one section of French in Upper School or a combination of both Upper and Middle School
• Provides classroom instruction and management
• Serves as a gradelevel advisor for a gradelevel team by being an advisor or coadvisor for up to 10 12 students
• Actively participates in the life of the school outside the classroom (e.g. coaching advising clubs etc.
• Possible other duties include one cocurricular activity and one additional duty per day (e.g. study hall lunch supervision etc. as assigned by a division director
• Chaperones at least one school event outside of normal school hours (e.g. dance service social event) as determined by a division director
• Participates in schoolrelated functions (e.g. Open Houses Back to School Night Commencement etc. as determined by the Head of School and division directors
• Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the schools documents
• Establishes and cultivates community relations by maintaining open dialogue with all of the schools constituencies
• Vigorously engages in their own professional development
• Since safety and security are everyones responsibility takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students faculty staff equipment materials and facilities
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

• Bachelors degree from a fouryear college or university in French or Spanish Language or French or Spanish Studies required
• Masters degree preferred
• 3 years teaching experience preferred

• Fluency in French Spanish and English required
• Knowledge of the Spanishspeaking and the Francophone world
• Competence in the content area and pedagogy specific to the developmental needs of Upper and Middle School students

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all constituents in the school community
• Ability to maintain confidential information
• Flexibility maturity and a sense of humor
• Ability and flexibility to use Microsoft Office Suite Google Workspace learning management systems online meeting and conferencing applications and operating Audio/Visual equipment
• Ability and interest in coaching and/or working in our outdoor program is a plus

Salary range is $64157 $116644 based on education and years of experience.
