About the Position
The City of Saint Paul Department of Safety and Inspections is hiring an individual to perform fullperformance inspections of freight and passenger elevators and escalators to see that the construction alteration installation and maintenance are done in accordance with pertinent portions of the Minnesota State Building Code.
Heres what you can expect to do:- Inspect elevator and escalator installations to determine that equipment is in safe operating condition and complies with Minnesota State Building Code.
- Investigate alleged violations of the Minnesota State Building Code and related ordinances.
- Remove unsafe equipment from service and issues orders and citations as necessary to ensure safety.

Position Requirements
All of the following experience education and certifications are required:
- High School or Vocational School Diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED).
- Five 5 years or more of experience as an elevator inspector and/or elevator mechanic.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Drivers License or equivalent outofstate drivers license.
- State of Minnesota Elevator Constructor license Master Elevator Constructor license Class A Journeyman Electrical license or Class A Master Electrical license issued by the Department of Labor and Industry as required by Minnesota statute.
- Evidence of successful completion of the National Elevator Industry Education Program examination.
- Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) Certification must be obtained within eighteen 18 months of employment as required by Minnesota Statute.
