Job Description

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Vice President and Dean of Students the director will provide strategic vision leadership planning and implementation of all Student Health Services programs operations and activities addressing the physical and wellness health needs of students including the screening assessment diagnosis and treatment of health conditions prevention programming health education and health and safety risk management; coordinate and direct communications services resources and information to meet student health needs and ensure smooth and efficient Department activities; and supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff including best practices that promote student health and wellness success and retention. The Director serves as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team and represents Student Affairs and the university with a wide range of committees.

Job Description:

  • Plan organize and direct Student Health Services clinical care services operations and activities; ensure that related activities comply with established standards requirements laws codes regulations policies and procedures; implement and evaluate Program Review processes through goal and objective settings and student learning outcome assessments focusing on student success and retention; and develop implement and assess standardized procedures and clinical protocols.

  • Coordinate and direct communications services resources and information; direct the development and implementation of student health programs services projects strategies policies state compliance procedures goals and objectives to meet current and future student health needs.

  • Train supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; interview and select employees and recommend transfers reassignment termination and disciplinary actions; ensure that required licensures and certifications are current for healthcare provider positions.

  • Develop department orientation and training sessions; collaborate with Student Health Services staff to enhance the integration of services provide professional development activities.

  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of health programs and services.

  • Plan organize promote and direct health education functions and activities to enhance student health awareness; develop and infuse healthrelated issues into courses and classroom management practices with firstyear experiences and upperdivision students; and oversee the development of health promotion outreach activities.

  • Function as financial manager of the Student Health Services budget including oversight of revenues expenses supplies and equipment inventory by monitoring and evaluating health services for financial effectiveness operational efficiency and capacity to meet student health needs.

  • Coordinate student health services and related communications and information between faculty staff students hospitals public health agencies law enforcement organizations state compliance agencies and other external agencies; ensure proper and timely resolution of student health service issues.

  • Serve as the primary administrator of the electronic health record; act as a consultant to the university regarding health matters.

  • Serve as liaison and advocate for the university with County State and Federal agencies to expand student healthrelated services and benefits; advocate for increased access; develop current referral systems and negotiate Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) contracts and community partnerships; collaborate with other offices and agencies to obtain federal state or private grant funding to address identified student health support needs.

  • Collaborate and partner with other NEIU departments regarding student health & wellness student success and student retention initiatives.

  • Serve as a consultant member of the Student Behavioral Intervention Team and the University Emergency Management Team.

  • Chair of the committee for NEIUs Biennial Review of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in nursing and current RN licensure in Illinois.

  • At least five years of clinical and/or administrative experience in a healthcare setting college or university setting.

  • Demonstrated success in working across organizational lines with faculty administrators staff and students to support Student Health Services programs activities and compliance.

  • Creativity and vision for program development in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Experience with organizational planning and development and implementation of program initiatives in partnership with diverse on and offcampus constituencies and in building community in multicultural settings.

  • Demonstrated experience recruiting managing supervising and evaluating professional and civil service staff.

  • Understanding and experience working with budgets from diverse funding sources and writing and administering grants.

  • Experience with assessment and working with institutional research to determine program effectiveness.

  • Capability to collect analyze and report on key performance indicators.

  • Knowledge and experience applying student learning theories in curricular and cocurricular settings.

  • Strong demonstrated commitment and work to equity diversity and social justice.

  • Employment will be contingent upon completing a criminal background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctoral degree in health administration higher education administration or appropriate field.

  • Experience working with university or college health services and health promotion.

Salary: $106000
