The Team
The Strategic Building Technology Services (SBTS) is part of the Workplace Development Services branch of the Real Property Division. This established team ofBuilding Technology Advisors (BTAs) brings expertise in architecture mechanical and electrical engineering energy systems and physical security systems. They play a critical role in shaping government building standards policies and programs while ensuring the best value for the taxpayer. The teams work makes a tangible impact offering expert advice and quality assurance on major projects across the Provinces real estate portfolio.

The Role
As a Building Technology Advisor (Electrical) youll play a pivotal role in shaping sustainable highperforming building solutions. You will provide strategic technical advice on electrical systems for projects of all scales from new builds to maintenance initiatives ensuring compliance with evolving policies legislative requirements and environmental goals. With a focus on equity diversity and inclusion (EDI) youll work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to develop innovative costeffective solutions that serve both organizational and client needs while making a lasting impact on the communities we serve.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • The BTA (Electrical) is a Registered Professional Engineer or Professional Licensee (member of the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists BC) or a Registered Technologist (Applied Science Technologies and Technicians).
  • The BTA (Electrical) has the required experience education and is a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD).
  • The BTA (Electrical) has a relevant secondary degree and 7 years of practical work experience related to building electrical systems.
  • An equivalent combination of education training and related experience may be considered.
  • LEED Accredited Professional is an asset.

Related Work Experience:

  • 7 years of electrical design experience in Commercial and Institutional projects; this includes experience in planning design implementation commissioning and maintenance of appropriate electrical systems required to support the positions discipline/area of expertise.
  • Experience in Commercial Building Energy Audits (minimum 5 years of experience).
  • Experience in energy and electrical systems.
  • Experience in project management methodology related to building construction.
  • Experience within a serviceoriented organization with commitment to client service innovation and creativity and a strong focus on delivering results.
  • Experience in assessing (or reviewing) innovative technologies and products; renewable energy experience would be an asset.
  • Experience in facilitating and resolving conflicting goals with multiple clients vendors and contractors.
  • Experience in a multidiscipline environment is an asset.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
The position headquarters will be Victoria Surrey Richmond Vancouver or Prince George.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
