Job Description
We are looking for creative team members who love to develop software. We want to work with people that make learning and teaching others a fundamental part of every day. We expect our engineers to be curious about how they can apply technology to make a meaningful impact to our customers. In particular were looking to hire a Software Engineering COOP who is a member of a software development team dedicated to solving customer problems through technology. COOPs participate in all facets of the software development lifecycle including requirements gathering design development and testing.
Software Engineering Coops at Emerson participate in fullstack development of enterprisegrade web applications including everything from responsive frontend development all the way down to database design unit testing and DevOps.
While engineers here are exposed to many different aspects of development each individual is given opportunities to grow in areas that interest them most. For some it is UX design and frontend development and others it might be API design and backend development. Senior engineers are here to mentor along the way but even coops can take the lead in introducing new technology to the team! Learning together is a big part of what enables us to deliver the best solutions for our customers while also growing our teams capabilities.
We are looking to hire a Software Engineering Coopwho can participate in all facets of projects from requirements gathering design development unit testing and DevOps.
In this Role Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Develops and unit tests development tasks sometimes via pair programming
- Participates in requirements gathering and breakdown sessions with the customer and the development team
- Assists with functional testing and other tasks as needed
- Learn and grow into a professional and productive team member
You stay aligned with your goals and stay productive. You make new connections and build relationships in other areas and teams. You take time to ask questions and define the problem and make learning a priority and a goal. You solicit both input and discussion.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Software Engineering Software Development Computer Science or related field
- At least one objectoriented programming course completed prior to coop
- Legal authorization to work in the United States Sponsorship will not be provided for this role
- Experience with Java .NET iOS Android or other highlevel programming
- Relational database/SQL knowledge
- HTML/CSS
- JavaScript
- Sophomore or higher class status
- Ability to return for multiple coop rotations
