Job Description

The Director of Cardiac Cath & Interventional Procedural Labs will play a key leadership role in strategy/visioning directing and daytoday operations of the departments activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives & goals. Additionally will lead in of development & sustaining physician relationships program development/access patient and referral source satisfaction and budget preparation/profitability. The Director will integrate with the organizations operations participate in performance improvement activities and ensure professional and regulatory compliance is achieved in all areas of responsibility. Responsible & available within respective area for the total number of hours that the unit is operational. Additionally this position is part of the greater nursing division leadership team and will need to be an active member of that team and work toward the success of respective department as well as the greater organization.

Requirements

Masters Degree in Nursing and/or healthcare related
Current BLS certification
ACLS within 6 months of employment
Current and valid RN license in VA or from a RN compact state; or
Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT(R) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with either of the following credentials:
o CardiovascularInterventional RT (CV) credential or
o CardiacInterventional Radiography (CI) credential

3 years departmental management experience

Preferred:

    Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or
    Nurse Executive Board Certified (NEBC)
    3 years of Cardiovascular Leadership experience

    Strong leadership organizational management skills financial analysis programmatic development physician and community relations excellent written and oral communication knowledge of the healthcare industry and workflows.
    Working knowledge of Microsoft applications. Proficiency on Microsoft Excel
    A successful track record in directing staff developing talent and leadership and shaping a customer service culture.
    Demonstrated critical thinking process improvement skills and independent judgment and business acumen in order to facilitate needed change. Ability to lead change and achieve support for change; builds consensus. A proven strategic thinker with ability to see big picture and opportunities.
    Assists in developing implementing and participates in leadership and professional development activities for peers and direct reports succession planning.

    Essential Job Duties:

    Provides/plans/monitors staffing patterns based on patient and operational needs while maintaining productivity standards
    Recruits interviews selects and assists in evaluation of all leadership positions within the respective area. Recruiting and hiring practices are in accordance with Augusta Health hiring standards. Participates in team member recruitment efforts & strategies.
    Develops and maintains current job descriptions and standards of performance of team members reporting to this position. Job descriptions are reviewed and revised at least annually and as needed
    Coordinates team member activities to include but not be limited to new team member orientation counseling & development opportunities. Evaluates orientation policies and procedures and recommends revision as necessary.
    Provides input to educational program development assuring that input is accurate and current best practice/standards.
    Develops and executes a plan for reducing staff turnover and improving team member engagement year over year.
    Ensure appropriate information flow from administration/management to frontline team members and back.
    Acts as a consultant/expert/resource for team members.
    Participates in team member rounding and develops team member to identify and mentor potential future leaders & succession planning.
    Assist as needed with team member coaching & coaches direct reports providing feedback; constructive critique of work; facilitate individual development plan; and documents their performance.

    Ensures the highest quality of care is provided and is following federal state and local regulatory requirements. Ensures that all areas of responsibility always maintain a regulatory survey state of readiness through audits chart review and rounding.
    Identifies and monitors the achievement of desired clinical outcomes to include patient assessment physician orders utilization of services care coordination and documentation standards.
    Supervises and ensures all departmental activities related to patient care. Ensures that patient care needs are met in an appropriate fashion and in a timely manner.
    Participates in the development implementation and review of departmental operating policies and procedures in accordance with organizational policies and procedures and requirements of regulatory agencies. Continually evaluates standards of nursing practice policies and procedures by reviewing patient care records interviewing and observing staff and patients. Policy and procedure manual reviewed and revised per facility policy.
    Participates on assigned hospital quality improvement teams and disseminates information to team members appropriately and in a timely manner.
    Directs supervises and participates in implementing planned changes and activities to improve service. Ensures the assessment of activities of the department reviewing audit and QM events information as appropriate.
    Develops and implements a plan for improvement (PIP) for departmental growth. Formulates long and shortterm goals for department within the framework of organizational goals. Plans are recommended annually and reviewed/revised as needed.
    Sets priorities assigns responsibilities and establishes appropriate timetables. Annually monitors and evaluates the accomplishment of departmental goals. Project future needs for service space equipment material revenue and personnel. Recommendations are made as needed for changes in these areas.
    Develops creative innovative solutions t maximize efficiencies and workload of team members.
    Maintains knowledge and awareness of trends and changing landscape impacting services/respective area by routine rounding on internal and external customers (patients physicians and referral sources)
    Arranges for a qualified designated person to assume responsibilities and obligations when unavailable. (For Hospice and Home Health must be in writing and approved by governing body: predesignated)

    Maintains optimal costeffective delivery of services by maintaining budget.
    Actively participates in the planning and development of a realistic annual departmental budget based on projected needs of patients served.
    Recommends budget information to administration for capital expenditures operating expenses and revenue.
    Participates in the development of a business plan for any new services/growth opportunities.
    Demonstrates fiscal responsibility as evidenced by monthly productivity and Budget reports for the department that are inline with projected outcomes.
    Consistently seeks to identify areas for improving cost containment and cost reduction.
    Strives to ensure profitability of respective area and/or decrease loss annually through value optimization activities.
    Utilizes and networks with financial partner within organization to maintain knowledge of actual financial performance and budgetary software.
    Manages productivity and actively reviews and implements strategies to maintain 100
    Actively implements strategies to reduce contract labor and incentives within department

    Responsible for developing leading and assuring quality assurance and performance improvement activities. This may include QAPI plan interdisciplinary QAPI meetings and presentation to the Board of Directors.
    Acts as the clinical liaison with Medical Director to act as focal point for the resolution of clinical concerns and improvement needs.
    Ensures compliance with regulatory bodies.
    Assist in grievance and/or complaint process by participating in investigation and communication/feedback to individual.
    May participate in annual HVA (Hazard Vulnerability Analysis) and Emergency Plan.
    Participates in patient rounding and visits to identify opportunities of recognition and areas of improvement.
    Drive service recovery through timely follow up
