Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Full Time Evenings

Texas Health Arlington Memorials Laboratory department is looking for a top skilledMedical Laboratory Scientist.Is that you

Work location:Texas Health Arlington Memorial: 800 W Randol Mill Rd Arlington TX 76012

Work hours:Full Time 40 Hours) Evening Shift rotating weekends

Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital has a rich history in North Texas serving the local communities of Arlington Kennedale Pantego Mansfield and Grand Prairie.Werea 369bed acutecare fullservice hospital serving our community since 1958. Our location in central Arlington provides convenient caretopeople in the DFW Metroplex and surrounding areas.

We specialize in comprehensive medical/surgical care cancer care womens services behavioral healthneurosciences and emergency medicine. Plus were a Level III neonatal intensive care unit Level III Maternal Newborn care unit and a Level III Trauma Center. Were accredited by the American College of Surgeons as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Center and by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.

Texas Health Arlington Memorial is a Joint Commissioncertified Primary Stroke Center a Chest PainCenter and a Heart Failure Center. Weve been recognized by the American Heart Association with a Gold Plus award for the exceptional care we provide to our stroke heart failure and chest pain patients. Were also a designated Magnet hospital! Our community members recently recognized us as the best emergency department in Arlington. Plus were recognized by Blue Cross/Blue Shield as a Blue Distinction Center for care of our patients receiving Hip and Knee Replacement and Spine Surgery procedures. Heres What You Need

Education

Bachelors Degree Medical Technology Applied Technology Clinical Lab Science or Chemical Physical or Biological Science preferred.

Individuals hired as a CLS II prior to January 3 2010 will be grandfathered to the MLS position with existing education.

Degree may be obtained within 3 months of hire Required

Experience

Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program required.

1 year experience is preferred.

Blood Bank Experience Required for Blood Banking positions.

Licenses and Certifications

MT(ASCP) Medical Technologist 6 Months required or

MLS(ASCP) Medical Lab Scientist 6 Months required or

Other AMT AAB HHS NCA HEW CLS CA FL NY state license Philippine Board of Technical Technology required upon hire or

M(ASCP) Microbiology if working in Microbiology required upon hire or

BB (ASCP) Blood Banking if working in Blood Bank required upon hire

What You Will Do

Specimen integrity is recognized by evaluating and solving problems related to collection and/or processing of specimens

Specimen conditions are identified that adversely affect test results

Facilitates workflow process

Checks outstanding tests list in a timely manner

Troubleshoots and follows through on outstanding tests which appear to have not been collected/received when expected

Maintains commitment to profession by attending continuing education sessions. (ex. Web seminars ASCP seminars Tarleton and Lab sponsored seminars by industry)

Completes mandatory hospital/laboratory education and departmental competencies within required time frame

Mandatory health requirements are completed with required time frame

Follows established laboratory test procedures including using proper computer protocol

Evaluates and reports test results

Demonstrates understanding of quality control guidelines

Follows Laboratory policies when quality control is not within established limits

Incorporates safety/infection control measures into work practices

Follows HIPAA guidelines

Participates in required hospital/laboratory safety drills

Utilizes the event reporting tool to document and report patient situations onthejob injuries and medical device malfunctioning.
