Job Description

Part or Fulltime options availale.
Parttime salary begins at $23000 annually. Hours are 12:30p 3:30p.
Fulltime salarybegins at $36500 annually. Hours are 7:30a 3:30p.
Qualifications:
  • Must be a Christian walking in fellowship with Christ Godly above reproach in all areas of life and apt to teach I Tim 3:2.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be physically and emotionally able to do the work required.
  • Must be dependable able to speak with parents reasonably and deal with children in a fair and just way.
  • Work directly under the supervision of the Elementary Principal.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and meet deadlines.
  • Computer skills must be equal to the requirements of the job.
  • Must relate well with children.
  • Must have good Biblical discipline and control.
  • Be a teacher of up to 24 students and nurture and care for them during the year.
  • Hold a bachelors degree from a college or university. (Be knowledgeable of materials taught.
  • Must be willing to apply for ACSI Teaching Certification at the time employment starts or before contract renewal for the second year of teaching.
Hours of employment:
Hours of employment will be set by the administration at the time of hire. May be a parttime or fulltime position. (Minimum working hours are 7:30 am to 12:30 pm.
BCS Handbooks:
Reading the faculty/staff handbook and student handbooks is required. Having an overall understanding of and becoming familiar with school policy and function is a necessity.
Functions:
Be responsible for teaching assigned students and work under the Elementary Principal.As a teacher you will be evaluated for quality of performance and compliance with the policies of the school.
Performance Review:
Each staff member will be evaluated for his/her performance based on his/her job description including use of prescribed curriculum and adequately covering subject matter. Not covering subject content adequately will be subject to nonrenewal of employment agreements. There will be a nineweek probationary period and classroom observation by the administration.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Follow the policies and expectations established by Belleview Christian School Administration.
  • Continually strive for a deeper walk with the Lord including personal quiet times and church attendance.
  • Assume a personal responsibility for the Christian nurture of each student under your care. Look for opportunities to draw your students parents etc. to Christ.
  • Be responsible for the constructive Biblical methods of discipline in your classroom.
    • Keep classroom rules simple; make sure your expectations are clear.
    • Your class should have order as students need discipline to clearly understand the boundaries.
  • Make preparations ahead of class time and clean up afterward.
  • Post weekly lesson plans on FACTS by Friday for the following week.
  • Be responsible for designing and implementing ageappropriate physical education curriculums
    • Instructing students in various sports and fitness activities.
    • Promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
    • Assessing student performance.
    • Ensuring a safe environment for physical activity.
    • Fostering teamwork and positive attitudes towards fitness within the classroom.
  • Verify learning goals are clearly stated with each lesson and all yearly objectives are met.
    • All teaching objectives are to be recorded in FACTS.
  • Prepare comments and final grades for every student assigned to your class for each quarter report card.
    • Be prepared to answer any questions regarding report cards.
    • Prepare reports for reference and always be available and prepared for parent conferences during the first and third quarters.
  • Keep daily attendance and tardies as per staff training.
  • Move around the classroom.
  • Enforce all safety rules/drills set forth in the staff handbook and safety and security plan.
  • Be responsible for the health and safety of students assigned to your class.
    • If a student becomes ill contact the office for help in contacting the parents.
    • Be aware of preexisting health problems that may need special attention. (Allergies diabetes poor eyesight etc.
    • Follow the policies established by the Administration the State Department of Health the Department of Social Services and the Department of Education.
  • Report any accidents or injuries.
    • Make sure when a student is injured that the school office has been notified and that the accident reports are filled out before you leave.
    • Parents MUST be immediately contacted in the event of ANY injury to the head.
  • Never leave the class/students unsupervised.
  • Check Belleview email several times per day before school during a break and after school.
  • Check staff mailbox at least twice a day before and after school.
  • Attend to light housekeeping duties each day. Leave the gymnasium and athletic office in an orderly manner at the end of each workday.
  • Turn in material request forms to the administration for any special projects you plan that require special items not regularly on hand.
  • Fill out maintenance forms and give them to Elementary Principal as needed.
  • Assist the administration with the organization of material and supplies inventory and keeping equipment in good repair.
  • Attend all staff meetings and gradelevel related activities during and after school hours.

  • Administer the Stanford Achievement Test (if applicable).
    • Your teacher EndofYear review will include progress made by each student did each student capable of making at least a year grade gain do so
  • Always Dress professionally. (Collared shirts & dress pants for men; modest dresses skirts blouses dress slacks/capris for ladies). See the Faculty Handbook for more information.
  • Accessing personal email Facebook Instagram Snapchat YouTube Pinterest etc. during work hours is not permitted.
  • Use of cell phones should be limited to school necessities only.
    • No personal calls/texts should be made or received any time you are supervising children.
  • Do not discuss school (and personal) problems or complaints with students parents or other friends & colleagues.
  • Discussion of salary or benefits with other staff students parents etc. is unethical.
Cleaning:
Teachers in every grade are responsible for keeping their classrooms and the hallway outside neat and clean. Teachers have the responsibility to clean up existing litter including snack and lunch time as needed. On assigned days chairs need to be stacked clearing the room for cleaning. Elementary teachers should be in the hallway when students are using the restrooms or getting items from the hallway. Teachers are to warn any student found littering and employ discipline measures if immediate corrective action does not result.
At the end of the day teachers should:
  • Clean off teachers desk top daily
  • Clean classroom countertops
  • Straighten student desks and stack chairs.
    • Check student desks and tables for marks. Students who are responsible for marks are to be disciplined/fined.
    • No stickers are permitted on desks.
    • Straighten desks/stack chairs
    • Check for gum under desks.
  • Empty pencil sharpeners.
  • Pick up paper trash books etc./sweep the floor (have students help at the end of classes).
  • Clean/straighten student shelves in the hallway.
    • Items left behind should be taken to lost & found.
  • Be sure chairs/desks are in order.
  • Clean whiteboards.
  • Empty classroom trash in hallway large trash cans by 3:00 each day.
  • Turn off lights and fans computer monitors lock windows and doors and adjust blinds.
  • Make sure all exit doors are locked if you are the last person to leave building.
  • Check that all outside doors close properly behind you.
End of Year:
When desks and classrooms are being cleaned out and many things are being thrown out staff and older students need to take out the trash not leaving large amounts/full trash cans for the cleaning staff.
