J.H. Larson is an independent distributor of Electrical Plumbing HVAC and Datacom products with 8 locations in Minnesota Wisconsin and South Dakota. Join our Rochester MN branch as an Outside Sales Representative and be part of our new location! Were looking for a motivated individual to generate sales build lasting customer relationships and collaborate with internal teams to exceed targets and boost customer satisfaction. In this role youll provide quotes manage projects and offer exceptional sales support while aligning with company goals and values. As a product expert youll guide customers through the entire sales process from quoting to delivery ensuring a smooth and professional experience at every step.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and generate leads by identifying potential clients through market research code calling networking and events while qualifying leads to uncover new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain enduring relationships with customers and vendors through regular followup meetings and personalized service. Provide valueadded service. Manage customer expectations and resolve issues and retain business.
  • Negotiate and close sales by discussing terms and agreements with customers overcoming objections and finalizing sales.
  • Manage customer orders by overseeing the entire order process including writing orders submittal shipping expediting billing and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Provide feedback by offering insights on pricing service products and customer needs.
  • Participate in sales meetings vendor trainings and collaborate with other departments to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Document sales activities by updating CRM systems and keeping records of sales activities client information and feedback.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associates degree in business marketing or a related field preferred

Experience and/or Training

  • 35 years of sales experience in electrical or construction industry with an awareness of building and safety regulations
  • Experience selling to senior leadership project managers estimators and buyers within commercial and residential contractors. Ability to manage complex accounts
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in oneonone situations and to other employees of the organization
  • Project management skills including the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Organized strong time management skills. Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and collaborate within a multifunctional team
  • Ability to negotiate deals handle objections and close sales.
  • Ability to find and develop new leads through cold calling networking and referrals.
  • Math skills. Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals
  • A flexible attitude detail oriented consistent tenacious creative problem solver
  • Selfmotivated and a selfstarter. Perform assigned duties with minimal personal supervision
  • Willingness to travel frequently
  • Computer experience with different order management systems (Eclipse knowledge preferred)
  • Wholesale distribution experience preferred
  • 5 years in customer service preferred
  • Subject matter expert on electrical plumbing HVAC components highly preferred
  • Business finance and marketing skills preferred

Licenses/Certificates

  • Valid US Drivers license and reliable transportation
  • Clean Driving Record
