JOB SUMMARY:
The Service Technician will troubleshoot and repair general heavy equipment engines and drivetrain components electrical and hydraulic systems and safely perform normal machine repair. Responsibilities include inspecting repairing maintaining overhauling and rebuilding engines and/or heavy equipment components. Additionally the Serviceman will work on AC systems as needed to ensure optimal performance in equipment maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed collaborate with other technicians to complete complex repairs efficiently and ensure all safety protocols are followed while working in the shop environment.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have one of the following:
- Completed the level 2 training program successfully.
- Five years of experience with handson mechanical repair work with diesel earthmoving or industrial equipment.
- Graduation from an accredited technical school (minimum twoyear program) with emphasis on diesel engine or earthmoving repair and two years experience.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Effective reading and writing skills.
- Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
- Basic computer skills are necessary.
- Must know the engine and equipment lines sold by the company.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar equipment and engines application operation and function.
- Should know the use and application of all Caterpillar diagnostic tools.
- Knowledge of diagnostic testing adjusting and troubleshooting procedures required.
- Welding skills are a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling. Standing/Sitting Up and down stairs standing sitting and climbing into machines. Dexterity Normal. Repetitive Motions Frequent movement requiring hands wrists and fingers. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
