Job Description
The Dedicated Subject Matter Expert (SME) is a Seniorlevel Archaeologist Paleontologist Architectural Historian or Historian that focuses on content and pricing strategy for client proposals. Dedicated SMEs are anticipated to spend at least 80 of their time on proposal preparation and pricing. The Dedicated SME can also serve as the Lead SME but is not necessarily the default Lead SME on all opportunities.
At the direction of a Regional or Office Principal a Dedicated SME may also assist with technical work to supplement times when proposal backlog is low. This supplemental technical work could consist of conducting research report writing QC of data or site forms and reports etc. Fieldwork is not expected for Dedicated SMEs.

Responsibilities - Primary focus is generating pricing for opportunities in a given office or region.
- Adhere to all pricing approval thresholds and provide advanced notice to Principals or Officers on opportunities that require their review and approval.
- Generate and update opportunities in Salesforce and Chronicles custom pricing calculator (PC).
- Strategy on technical approach and pricing for opportunities.
- Oversee the preparation of proposals and successfully procure project contracts.
- Work collaboratively with the sales team regional leadership and other SMEs and technical staff.
- Collaborate with operations staff to stay informed on project schedule and budget to ensure were staying within scope and to be able to provide client updates.
- Work with the sales team to assist in their responsibilities of pipeline management.
- Demonstrate confidence in decisionmaking.
- Interface with clients and external stakeholders; provide highlevel consultation to clients to resolve complex problems or issues in response to questions about applicable regulations or policies governing cultural resource management.
- Maintain uptodate knowledge of regulations affecting cultural resource management and general industry trends; demonstrate technical excellence in areas of expertise and maintain knowledge of best management practices in field of study.
- Maintaining existing business relationships in collaboration with other Senior staff and Principals.
- Oversee the preparation of proposals and successfully procure project contracts; maintain relationships leading to followon and repeat work; attract work based on personal reputation as an expert.
- Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in anthropology archaeology history or a related field
- Professional accreditation highly preferred (if applicable)
- 7 years of demonstrated cultural resource management or related experience in the Southwest region(preferably in a private environmental consulting firm).
- Knowledge of principles practices and techniques of cultural resource management and relevant federal state and local laws and regulations relating to field of expertise.
- Knowledge of and experience in applying research methods and forming and maintaining effective client and interagency internalteam relationships.
- Must possess a valid drivers license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word Excel PowerPoint Project).

- Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to speak and write effectively and persuasively with clients agencies and occasionally the public.
- Excellent organizational scheduling and budget management skills.

- Exceptional writing editing and proofreading skills
- Proficient in Salesforce familiarity with any proposal software/tools
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams
Physical And Mental Requirements And Work Environment
- Vision is required to observe environmental phenomena and record and translate observations into text (either keyboard entry on a computer or dictation and audio translation of recording to Standard English scientific text).
- Mental requirements include ability to organize ones own work or that of crew members; ability to recognize and observe scientific data and analyze data as well as ability to perform calculations. Must also be able to observe social and professional interactions and respond appropriately.
- Some work is performed primarily in an indoor environment and requires sustained sitting and use of fingers hands and arms to operate a computer and perform keyboard entry of data or document preparation (or equivalent with accommodation). Must also be able to operation standard office equipment (phone copy machine FAX machine etc.
