Description

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing maintenance repair and upkeep of all plant equipment buildings and tools. The technician is responsible for providing preventative maintenance including a safe and sanitary environment to the plant and surrounding grounds. They perform routine maintenance repairs troubleshooting and inspections to minimize downtime.

Office Environment: 3 of the work is conducted in an office setting involving time spent on computer research project management and communication with team members and stakeholders. Frequent participation in both inperson and virtual meetings including project updates strategy sessions and presentations to management and stakeholders.

Production Environment: 96 Regular visits to the production areas will involve exposure to machinery noise varying temperatures humidity and wet conditions.

Travel: <1 Occasional travel for training meetings conferences etc.

Schedule: Flexible schedule including evenings weekends and holidays as needed based on operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

    1. Learn setup operation adjustments and operating parameters of production equipment.
    2. Safety must be a priority. Remedy any unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
    3. Reconfigure electrical and water drops to improve esthetics efficiency and safety.
    4. Assess maintenance and repair problems with followup.
    5. Perform plumbing and electrical work and repair equipment when breakdowns occur to maintain production.
    6. Develop open communication with machine operators department supervisors and managers.
    7. Facilitate implementing a preventative maintenance schedule for production equipment.
    8. Build spare parts stock for normal wear items.
    9. Paint any necessary areas and repair aesthetic defects i.e. seals hinges hangers etc. when production schedule allows.
    10. Develop a daily walkthrough routine to spot and document possible problems.
    11. Be on call as needed.
    12. Be a role model in projecting and applying company policies and department SOPs and promote teamwork at all times.
    13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

    1. A high school diploma or GED is required.
    2. Minimum three years related experience in electrical single phase 3 phase & programming refrigeration welding fabrication forklift or building maintenance.
    3. Experience in Best Practices in Process Improvement.
    4. Industrial Refrigeration Certified.
    5. Experience working in a food processing environment.
    6. Able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License.
    7. Forklift Certification is preferred.
    8. Strong mechanical electrical or technical aptitude.
    9. Strong Computer skills in MS Office Suite primarily Word and Excel.
    10. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:

  1. Regular visits to production areas will involve exposure to machinery high noise levels varying temperatures humidity and wet conditions.
  2. Must be able to sit stand walk reach stretch stoop and bend for extended periods.
  3. Ability to work around ingredients and/or finished products containing food allergens.
  4. Must be able to communicate through various channels including phone email facetoface and videoconferencing.
