For companies building financial technology and transforming the financial services space the biggest bottleneck to their growth and innovation is often the underlying banks and infrastructure stack they rely on. We have spent our careers founding and scaling companies like Plaid Square SoFi Blend and Affirm and have seen this problem firsthand builders and developers needing to partner with traditional banks and creating API and abstraction layers over the patchwork that is the bank its core and many other vendors. All of this results in a complex (and often expensive) banking supply chain involving a user fintech BaaS middleware provider bank core and the Federal Reserve.

The opportunity:
As a Customer Engineer at Column youll get the chance to work with some of the coolest companies in fintech and help them understand how to build solutions/products using our APIs and data model. This is a super crossfunctional role where youll partner with team members across our engineering business operations finance and compliance teams to support customer implementations and drive payment volume through Column (and help grow our business as a result!. Column doesnt have product managers so youll contribute to gathering and synthesizing product feedback identifying gaps and supporting the development of product requirements while learning how we prioritize new feature development with our engineering team. This role requires more technical aptitude than the average Customer Engineering position youll need to understand our technology deeply to be an effective partner to our customers. Youll also assist in building internal tooling to improve operational efficiency with significant opportunities to take on more responsibility as you grow. This role will work alongside our team in our Presidiobased office 4 days inperson/week) and reports to Columns Head of Solution Engineering.
What youll do:
Support the technical relationship with our customers across presales implementation onboarding and support.
Assist with the implementation and delivery of strategic crossfunctional projects with guidance from senior team members.
Help identify operational bottlenecks and contribute to building internal tooling and processes to address them.
Collect and organize product feedback help identify gaps and support the writing of product requirement documents.
Learn to manage roadmap expectations with our engineering team and customers.
Perform daytoday activities consistent with safe and sound business practices and regulatory requirements.
Help identify assess and manage risk by adhering to policies and procedures established by the Bank and report issues to management.
What youll need to be successful:
3 years of experience in a technical or technicaladjacent role
Strong customerfacing presence
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Problemsolving aptitude and curiosity
Humble attitude and eagerness to roll up your sleeves
Basic technical skills with potential to grow in coding (JavaScript or Python) and ability to learn SQL
Interest in financial services industry (prior knowledge is helpful but not required)

Pay transparency:
Compensation packages at Column include base salary equity and benefits. New hire offers are made based on a candidates experience expertise geographic location and internal pay equity relative to peers.
The annual US base salary range for this role is $125000 $160000 equity.
