Applicants must be able to care for critically ill patients. Applicants must currently have the skills or be able to learn the skills required for this position including Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certifications.
Physicians must be eligible for independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta appropriate Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage and ACLS certification. Applicants must have current experience in the clinical management of acute care inpatients and/or experience in emergency room services.
Eligibility for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta is essential.
This position will not support a practice readiness assessment.

The Covenant family (Covenant Health Covenant Care and Covenant Living) provides acute care continuing care and independent living services at 26 sites in 15 communities across Alberta.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Alberta Health Services/Covenant Health are currently recruiting fully licensed physician(s) to manage the medical needs of vascular surgery patients presenting to the Grey Nuns Community Hospital (GNCH) Emergency Department and to provide medical/surgical comorbid management of inpatients at the GNCH Vascular Surgery Service. Coverage will be provided to the Vascular (including Vascular Intermediate Care Unit) service under the direction and supervision of an attending Vascular Surgeon.
We are looking for daytime onsite coverage for:
The number of days per week are variable and dependent on applicant availability. The service is able to accommodate applicants who can fill all or a portion of the available shifts.
Daily duties include rounding medication reconciliation providing daily assessments management and discharge planning. Optimization of new admissions to prevent delay of surgical treatment is also a priority. Liaising with the interdisciplinary team patients and families is expected. Surgical assistance may be required in the absence of surgical assistants. Coverage of available extra shifts in the schedule may also be available.
