Want to join our Team The Clinical Practice Specialist for Nursing isdirectly responsible for the professional competency oversight and professional development of the nurse practitioners nursing and certified nursing aides students and nursing interns. This role serves as a member of the clinical operations team to facilitate best practices and address concerns/problems associated with the delivery of clinical services. This role will actively participate in the orientation of new clinical staff to include all disciplines of the interdisciplinary team ensuring orientation processes meet all regulatory requirements. Collaborates with academic institutions for clinical site placements and supervision of students across disciplines related to hospice and palliative care to assure appropriate clinical experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs and executes Hospice of the Chesapeakes Education Program in collaboration with the Psychosocial/Spiritual Care Practice Specialist. This includes position specific orientation programs competency evaluations required annual training continuing education programs and other topics as identified for interdisciplinary staff.
- Performs competency assessments and contributes when appropriate to annual performance evaluations for all NPs nursing and nursing aides in collaboration with clinical management which may also include remediation or performance improvement plans for staff.
- Participates in planning and presentation of New Employee Orientation.
- Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure education files are up to date at all times to ensure compliance with educational regulations.
- Collaborates with Clinical Managers to determine training and coaching needs on best practices of documentation based on nursing and aide audit outcomes. Coordinates with clinical management when remediation is needed.
- Serves as a mentor to new and current employees in a capacity which may require direct patient care. Through mentorship moves clinical employees from the position of novice to intermediate clinician to skilled clinician in endoflife care with an expectation that all clinical staff practice at the highest level of competency for their discipline and according to the standards of practice.
- Supervises nursing/aide students to meet their onsite learning objectives in collaboration with their learning institution. Coordinates with institutions of higher learning for student placement requirements when applicable. Coordinates with Clinical teams for students to engage in patient care experiences.
- Responsible for working collaboratively with all departments in the design evaluation revision and provision of instruction.
- Assists in the maintenance of the online learning platforms including Relias. Works collaboratively with other departments to maximize the tracking capabilities in the online learning platform.
- Maintains the clinical simulation environment and resources; collaborates with Clinical departments to coordinate skills demonstrations/evaluation to improve/maintain safety and delivery of quality care.
- Develops curriculum or course materials in response.
- Works collaboratively with clinical leaders to design implement evaluate and revise educational modules and resources.
- Conduct ELNECbased and/or Core Competencybased training incorporating the standards of professional practice (which may include advanced end of life care delivery principles APCBCC guidelines NHPCO standards for practice and others)
- Supports and participates in QAPI /performance improvement activities and committees as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned by their leader.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current unencumbered Maryland Registered Nursing License required.
- Masters degree from an accredited program required; may be MSN MS Ed; will consider Master of Science (MS) in an applicable/ related area of focus as long as applicant also possesses Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Certification in Hospice and Palliative Nursing (CHPN) Advance Certified Hospice and palliative Nurse (ACHPN) or Hospice and Palliative Care Administrator (CHPCA) or achieved within 12 months.
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in a setting focused on the Family System required (providing care in the context of the family unit). Prior hospice / palliative care healthcare experience preferred will consider other endoflife healthcare settings. Must have at least 1 year working in a leadership or mentoring role.
- Interdisciplinary teamwork experience preferred.
- Possess a professional maturity that consistently sets the tone in carrying out the responsibilities of the position exercising a high degree of honesty integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to engage diverse adult learners in variety of settings and through multiple modalities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in oral communication written communication customer service conflict resolution problem solving quality management and systems thinking.
- Demonstrated skills in creating and implementing clinical training programs includes a working knowledge of adult learning techniques current clinical standards and strong presentation skills. Ability to adjust and revise training as needed for effective engagement.
- Skilled in motivating developing and directing people as they work to enlist cooperation of many people to perform/ achieve a common goal.
- Skilled in identifying the many aspects of complex problems able to review related information and then develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Advanced proficiency in the Electronic Medical Record required at 90 days.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of Joint Commission OSHA CDC and APIC guidelines (Communitybased Infection Control) regulatory standards and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
- Demonstrates the ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with attention to details and deadlines and to simultaneously handle multiple projects.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrates the willingness and ability to function as an integral part of a team including working some evenings and weekends if needed to accommodate the needs of the organization and the training needs of all shifts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products: Outlook Word Excel and Power Point. Experience using other Learning Management Platforms and programs preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
- Moderate lifting of material in a general office environment eight 8 hour workday ability to sit stand walk and speak on the telephone.
- Excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills; excellent organizational skills; and excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse team and serve a diverse patient population.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word PowerPoint and Windows.
- Must have a valid drivers license with a good driving record.
- Compliant with health screening and vaccination requirements of organization and position including TB screening COVID vaccination and annual Influenza vaccination.
