Job Description

Position Summary:

The Assistant Superintendent provides support and assistance to the construction superintendent and area construction manager in all aspects of the new home construction process from start to finish.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the construction superintendent and area construction manager in overseeing the entire home construction process from start to finish.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization around all homes and surrounding lots and jobsites.
  • Perform daily checks to verify all lot signs are clean and visible to the public.
  • Ensure new home readiness and assist the Superintendent in completing the New Home Orientation Training walkthrough/checklist with homebuyer prior to Close of Escrow.
  • Perform regular quality and safety walkthroughs and inspections with superintendents and inspectors.
  • Assist in the coordination and scheduling of contractors and subcontractors for each phase of construction.
  • Assist in conducting prejob meetings with subcontractors prior to key stages of construction and notify superintendent of any potential delays.
  • Maintain a safe work site by implementing good housekeeping regulations and safety requirements.
  • Secure all homes prior to leaving jobsite and assist with additional projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 2 years of demonstrated relevant experience preferably within the home construction industry along with working knowledge of general building tools and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with homeowners and subcontractors as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Ability to properly and efficiently delegate execute and followup on tasks.

Physical Requirements:

This position involves both office and field responsibilities. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle climb stairs/ladders walk on active jobsites read plans bend stoop reach lift and carry items weighing more than 25 pounds. Office work includes sitting at a computer for extended periods completing paperwork and receiving/returning phone messages. Proficiency in operating a computer keyboard and calculator. Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors adapting to different weather conditions. Public contact is required; therefore professional appearance and appropriate business attire are expected.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises laborers subcontractors and vendors on the job site. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Trains employees; plans assigns and directs work.

Safety Requirements:

This position is a safety sensitive position and includes tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task and others. This position requires safety training provided by the company.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel may be required for this position. A valid drivers license and active vehicle insurance is required at all times.
