Job Description:

In addition to the Compensation Details above the incumbent in this position will be eligible to receive location pay $4000/year).

Responsibilities

The Public Health Representative IV will liaison between local health departments regional communicable disease and the Bureau of Tuberculosis (TB). The incumbent will be responsible for supporting and providing accurate guidance information education and technical assistance to the public health care providers New York State Department of Health staff local health departments and other agencies related to communicable disease and environmental health. The incumbent will contribute to the screening and triaging of phone calls and other TB information requests support communicable disease epidemiology activities including working with state laboratories local health departments and other federal state and local partners to investigate potential Tuberculosis clusters and/or outbreaks; provide technical assistance in the control of communicable disease transmission; contribute towards policy development; maintain an understanding of all communicable disease data sources collection methods and uses of data and provide technical assistance to program staff as needed; and provide support to regional and LHD staff during simulated and actual public health emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelors degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience in a health human service or communitybased organization that includes providing direct patient/client services performing regulatory activities conducting epidemiological research and/or direct clinical care as a healthcare provider or closely related experience; OR an Associates degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Masters degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. At least one year of experience must have included program management or supervision of staff.

Preferred Qualifications

A Masters degree in public health. Experience in epidemiology investigation health program planning evaluation and management. Experience in participating in the investigation of communicable disease outbreaks and surveillance. Experience in training and education of health care providers including developing delivering and coordination educational materials. Demonstrated experience in monitoring government contracts working with stakeholder coalitions facilitating large groups and/or administration of health programs. Experience using data systems. Experience working on grants and grant deliverables and understanding the priorities and concerns of a marginalized group. At least three years of supervision experience.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting grant deliverables and contract deliverables is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel up to 25 of the time may be required.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York New Jersey Connecticut Vermont or Massachusetts prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available.

Exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position. Therefore the incumbent in this position may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment.
