Job Description Summary
MUSCs Department of Emergency Medicine is looking for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join its team of Advanced Practice Providers. Incumbent will provide diagnostic therapeutic and preventive healthcare services for direct patient care in the Adult Emergency Departments in the Main University Hospital and Ashley River Tower as delegated by the Emergency Medicine physician. This position is a nocturnist position with all shifts being overnight shifts.Entity

Job Description
Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Salaried/Exempt
Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: 1720 clinical hours per year comprised of 10hour shifts; all shifts will be overnight shifts

Required Training
Required Minimum Training: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below.

Preferred Training: Physician Assistant (PA) or if APRN License Type/Certification

Preferred Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience as a PA or APRN in an Emergency Department setting or completion of an Emergency Medicine Fellowship/Residency
Degree of Supervision
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC.
Required Licensure Certifications Registrations
All certifications must be current and complete prior to start date:
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required for adult inpatient positions
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) as required by our Level I Trauma Center
DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day.

Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:
Physical Requirements
Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist kneel climb stairs reach in all directions fully use both hands and legs possess good finger dexterity perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift lower push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs(/ unassisted exert up to 50 lbs of force lift from 36 to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
Additional Job Description
Graduation from an approved Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARCPA) or its predecessor agencies. Must be licensed in the state of South Carolina and certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
