Duties:Responsible for various software development and engineering activities supporting the delivery of autonomy algorithm software to the overall system solution within our autonomy software algorithms components. Perform software development activities such as software architecture design coding unit testing integration deployment and maintenance within their assigned autonomy algorithms software component. Develop implement and test autonomy algorithms with the areas of active sensing and information fusion. Develop perception algorithms to detect and perceive objects for Torcs autonomous driving systems allowing the system to understand and react to the environment around the vehicle in realtime. Create software to utilize algorithms that use sensor data from LiDAR RADAR and cameras to detect classify segment and detect segment classify and track obstacles in the vehicles surrounding environment. Create situational awareness for our behaviors and path planning teams to make vehicle decisions to navigate safety.
Requirements:Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science Mechanical Engineering Robotics Engineering Electrical Engineering or related autonomy software engineering technical field with 2 years postbaccalaureate experience as a Software Engineer 2 Autonomy or closely related position with autonomy automotive development experience or alternatively Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science Mechanical Engineering Robotics Engineering Electrical Engineering or related autonomy software engineering technical field with5 years experience as a Software Engineer 2 Autonomy or closely related position with autonomy automotive development experience. Experience must include: 1 C & python software development in Linux environment; 2 modeling and simulation of traffic systems vehicle dynamics and control systems; 3 virtual verification & validation of automated driving systems; 4 integrate traffic modeling with vehicle dynamics and sensor and 3D environment models.
Position located in Blacksburg VA but eligible to work from anywhere in the U.S. Up to 20 domestic (and international) travel possible.
