Description

Claims Manager

The Claims Manager is responsible for reviewing processing and managing claims submitted by victims or their authorized representatives through an electronic portal or paper applications. This role involves verifying the accuracy and completeness of claim information ensuring proper documentation is provided and addressing any discrepancies through professional communication with claimants. The Claims Manager identifies related federal cases collaborates with internal teams and forwards claims to the appropriate U.S. Attorneys Office for further action. Additionally they track restitution payments manage claims outcomes and generate regular reports for senior management. The position requires strong attention to detail communication skills and proficiency in office software to ensure accurate and timely claims processing.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Claims Manager: $60000 $70000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical Dental Vision 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Claims Manager Responsibilities Include:

  • Receive claim submitted by claimant or claimants authorized representative.
  • Review claim submitted by claimant.
  • Identify case(s) associated with the claimant.
  • Consult with claimant on any issues with submitted claim.
  • Identify the USAO to forward claim package for presentation to the Court.
  • Enter and track restitution paid.
  • If claim is denied and no appeal filed by USAO:
  • If claim approved:
  • Provide info toUSAOs and CEOS as appropriate.
  • Reporting
  • Produce a variety of documents and materials utilizing a wide range of office software applications as necessary. Assignments may include integrating output from different database applications charts and graphs into word processing documents presentations or spreadsheets. Ensure proper format spelling punctuation capitalization and grammar of all written documents.
  • When applicable keep the Government Program Manager apprised of updates and escalate as may be necessary situations that arise which require Government oversight or approval.
  • Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned
  • If claim is submitted electronically in the DMAVR portal access user Dashboard.
  • If claim is submitted via paper application initiate claim in the portal by manually entering information.
  • Review for claim completion to include ensuring all necessary supporting documentation is provided.
  • Identify discrepancies in information provided.
  • Review submitted documents to confirm they are the correct documents.
  • Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with claimant via the portal concerning any missing unknown or discrepancies in information.
  • Utilize systems (e.g. the Victim Notification System (VNS); PACER; LexisNexis) to locate federal cases in which claimant was identified as a victim.
  • If no case can be identified forward to EOUSA Program Manager for additional review.
  • Communicate effectively with claimant.
  • If unable to resolve may reject/return claim as invalid incomplete or unverifiable.
  • Send to EOUSA project manager (contractor or government employee) for secondary review and confirmation of USAO assignment.
  • After final review claims manager or EOUSA Project Manager sends claim package to USAO via the portal.
  • Review databases for restitution paid to claimant.
  • Provide to USAOs with claim package.
  • Receive claim back from USAO via portal.
  • Determine if another case exists to present the claim and forward to a newly identified USAO for eligibility determination.
  • Notice to the claimant via portal and instruct claimant to complete ACH form to obtain payment information form stored in portal and/or DMAVR website
  • Track AVAA DMA paid.
  • Provide EOUSA Program Manager with weekly and monthly reporting of claims processing activity and completed work.
  • Provide EOUSA Program Manager with weekly and monthly DMA paid.
  • Maintain log and report any communications with claimants or their authorized representatives outside of the portal.

Claims Manager Experience Education Skills Abilities requested:

  • Possess a fouryear undergraduate degree in a related field (i.e. business administration criminal justice etc. with a minimum of three 3 years of professional work experience to include customer service responsibilities preferably in victim services.
  • Work independently and efficiently with the ability to multitask and prioritize a shifting workload.
  • Retrieve and analyze data and information from multiple sources.
  • Attention to detail and quality control techniques to ensure accuracy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs (i.e. Word PowerPoint Excel and Outlook) and in accessing learning and maintaining various databases and online resource search engines.
  • Operate a variety of office equipment including personal computers photocopiers telephone systems and scanners.
  • Perform editing reformatting and generating written and electronic documents using MS Word Excel and other document generation software.
  • Must pass preemployment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
