Official Rehabilitation Partner of Penn State Football
The Physical Therapist is responsible for patient management delivery direction and supervision of care provided in an age appropriate manner consistent with the principles and practices of PAM Health. Responsible for providing on campus treatment to collegiate and professional athletes in the State College Pennsylvania area. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. This is a nonexempt position.
I. Responsibilities
Demonstrates competency in accordance with PAM Health policy procedures and practices.
Routinely meets with the studentathletes and/or family to accommodate the patients needs as indicated.
Implements a functional training program based on the patients level of ability (i.e. balance transitional movement transfers gait wheelchair mobility and dressing). Demonstrates competency in patient instruction of activities through effective intervention techniques.
Uses equipment properly and instructs patient and caregiver in proper equipment use to promote function.
Implements a therapeutic pool program if available and appropriate.
Promotes and provides highquality physical therapy services in the hospital or clinic.
Proficient in accessing research data and implements to support evidencebased practice.
Works closely with the interdisciplinary team in coordinating the patients plan of care.
Insures appropriate equipment is obtained and safe for patient use.
Prepares written or oral instructions to patients/caregivers for implementing therapeutic home exercise programs.
Provides ongoing patient and caregiver education to include problemsolving skills in real life situations.
Recommends appropriate home modifications and/or adaptations.
Completes accurate records to ensure correct documentation: charge sheets treatment records and medical record documents in an appropriate time frame in accordance with PAM Health policies and procedures; assures the accuracy completeness and timeliness of charge capture per system hospital or clinic/department policies and procedures.
Completes accurate and timely reports for any unusual occurrences which occur to patients visitors staff or self and actively uses safety measures to prevent avoidable injuries.
Responsible for meeting daily productivity standards.
Assists and collaborates with the medical director physician or consultants and other staff members of the rehabilitation team in circumstances where joint efforts are necessary.
Participates in patient care conferences and staff meetings.
Participates in inservices and pertinent continuing education offerings and shares knowledge to promote team competence.
Demonstrates support/responsibility for the overall functioning of the team.
Assists with the maintenance of hospital or clinic equipment; reporting need for repairs and replacements when necessary.
Adheres to Medicare rules and regulations when applicable.
Participates in specialized training for program development when requested by Director.

V. Delivery of Therapeutic Interventions
Manual Therapy: Utilize handson techniques such as joint mobilization soft tissue manipulation and myofascial release to reduce pain and improve movement.
Exercise Therapy: Design and guide patients through specific exercises to strengthen muscles improve flexibility and enhance overall function.
Patient Assessment: Evaluate and assess patients musculoskeletal conditions including range of motion strength flexibility and functional abilities.
Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments goals and evidencebased practices.
Rehabilitation: Provide therapeutic interventions such as manual therapy therapeutic exercises and modalities to enhance recovery and improve functional outcomes.
Education: Educate patients and their families about their conditions treatment plans home exercise programs and injury prevention strategies.
Progress Monitoring: Track and document patient progress adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals including orthopedic surgeons primary care physicians and nursing staff to coordinate care and optimize patient recovery.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations treatments and outcomes in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Patient Safety: Ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients during therapy sessions and adhere to infection control protocols.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training: PT license in the state where the university resides. Current BLS certification required. Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist preferred
Specialty Certifications Required: Dry Needling Cupping Blood Flow Restriction Kinesiotaping
Experience: One year of clinical experience required. Game day experience with onfield injury treatment and injury prevention experience specific to football.
