JOB SUMMARY |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The Sonographer performs a variety of ultrasound procedures in an outpatient setting while maintaining a high |
level of customer service and quality patient care. The administration of the Sonographer includes performing routine |
breast ultrasound procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist and demonstrating compassion |
to ensure overall patient satisfaction. |

|
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
1. Performs routine breast ultrasound procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist. Patients |
are positioned and scanned correctly assuring that the physician prescription and scan are the same. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
2. Properly inputs all required patient information into the system including protocol patient history in full |
sentences performing providers and any additional information to the radiologist regarding the procedure. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
3. Obtains complete and detailed history to assist the radiologist with diagnosis from each patient. Performs exams |
in an accurate and timely manner. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
4. Properly identifies patients and demonstrates compassion while maintaining patient confidentiality. Explains |
the exam to each patient to ensure patient safety and cooperation. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
5. Assists the radiologist during breast biopsies while following OSHA and universal precautions. Reviews consent |
forms with patients and answers any questions regarding the procedure and ensures that the radiologist and patient |
sign the consent forms. Properly labels the specimen containers and fills out any necessary paperwork accurately. |

|
6. Maintains exam rooms by stocking exam rooms with necessary supplies. Maintains equipment and reports any |
equipment malfunctions to the supervisor or appropriate service provider. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
7. Properly windows and levels images for film printing and burns CDs as necessary. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
8. Promotes teamwork by assisting other staff as needed. Performs other duties as required. |
|

WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
2 or more years in the Sonography field is preferred. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
High School Diploma or GED. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Completion of a course in Ultrasound; Current RDMS and Breast certifications are required. |

SKILLS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Skills in properly positioning patients and obtaining diagnostic images identifying equipment problems |
establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients medical staff and public. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
This job requires prolonged sitting or standing frequent bending stooping or stretching; Must be able to see with or |
without corrective eyewear must be able to hear clearly with or without assistance. This position may require lifting |
50 plus pounds. |
