The Wistar Institute has an opening for a Research Assistant to join the laboratory of Dr. Colby Maldini to perform a wide variety of laboratory tasks and experiments including genetic engineering of Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T cells mammalian cell culture and in vivo testing of CAR T cell therapies directed against HIV and blood cancers in humanized mice.
The Maldini Lab leverages emerging genome engineering technologies to address challenges in immunotherapies and enhance their functionality for nextgeneration treatments. By integrating geneediting technology such as base editors with synthetic biology the lab aims to overcome therapeutic resistance improve safety and expand the application of engineered immune cells to treat serious human diseases.
A bachelors degree in a sciencerelated field (or equivalent experience) is required. Postgraduate experience is desired. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills as they will be trained by and work directly with the principal investigator as well as exhibiting a keen enthusiasm for scientific inquiry. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in mammalian cell culture techniques and mouse handling.
