Job Description
Job Title: Tool & Die Maker
Job Code: 21821
Job Location: Canoga Park CA
Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days totaling 80 hours worked and have every other Friday off
Job Description:
This position works with machining fixtures holding fixtures welding fixtures torch weld jigs inspection media fixtures material handling equipment individual tool details etc.
Essential Functions:
- Operate a manual lathe mill and other machine shop equipment including hand tools.
- Read blueprints sketches and tooling drawings.
- Use precision measuring instruments to check work in progress and the finished product for adequacy and accuracy of dimensions configuration and surface finish.
- Assemble fit repair and rework tools to meet the latest drawing requirements.
- Work with Tool Fabrication Engineering to develop tooling improvements.
- Work with Tool Fabrication Engineering to produce replacement details for special tooling.
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of tool making experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of tolerances reading blueprints processing etc.
- A desire to be working manual machines to produce oneoff tools and tool details that are critical to support the business needs.
- Set up and machining experience with manual mill and lathe.
- Good mathematical skills including ability to perform calculations using basic shop mathematics.
- Familiarity with ASMEY14.51994 or greater and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to use inspection equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instruction.
- Ability to work without constant supervision and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and adjust priority focus as needed.
- Ability to communicate in English (both written and verbal).
- Ability to organize and keep the work area clean and tidy. Familiarity with 6S principles a plus.
- Basic computer skills required (MS Office etc.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role is $33.14/hr $55.39/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
