General Information:
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at James Madison University is accepting applications for a fulltime Administrative Assistant to support JMUs and the College of Arts and Letters overriding vision by providing all the administrative and clerical support needed for the Sociology and Anthropology Department while serving as department office manager for 23 fullfaculty and four parttime faculty and supervising two student assistants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide for a wellorganized office system.
Maintain appropriate documentation for all department records.
Assist in management of faculty searches and hiring.
Schedule and maintain classes.
Manage all department procurement.
Ensure that student assistants are well trained and led.
Maintain all fixed assets to include software and lab equipment.
Serve as building coordinator for Sheldon Hall.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
Previous administrative experience in an office setting and an understanding of proper office management practices.
Significant experience with Windows and Microsoft Office (Word Excel Teams).
Ability to organize prioritize and multitask in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
Ability to take initiative and work independently or complete a variety of tasks with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
Demonstrated ability to adapt and learn new systems.
Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently and proactively.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated aptitude for working with diverse populations.
Additional Considerations
Previous experience working in a higher education environment.
Knowledge of eVA PeopleSoft (Student Administration Finance HR) AiM Zoom.
