What you will be doing:
Under general direction performs onsite preventative maintenance of State owned ferry terminals. This includes preventive maintenance and repairs to mechanical electrical and structural systems of State owned ferry terminal facilities. Duties require understanding and operational skills mechanical electrical carpentry plumbing and heating systems painting welding equipment operating and labor trade skills. A heavyduty boom truck must be operated as part of duties which requires a Commercial Drivers License. Work ranges in lower complexity preventive maintenance and lubrication of bridge components and painting of buildings and facilities to more complex repair of Syncrolift controls systems and building fire alarm controls. (Job requires frequent travel on commercial airlines as well as small planes and ferries.

COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED
This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) per federal regulations 49 CFR 383 to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety sensitive duties and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.
A Class BAlaska Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is required for this position. A conditional hire approval can be given to applicants that do not yet possess a Class A CDL. This means that the proposed appointee must successfully obtain aClass B CDL within 120 daysof hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC FACILITIES DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY
Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures and CANNOTstart work in a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) position until Management Services or designee has received confirmation of the proposed appointee passing the required PreEmployment drug test. According to federal regulations all violations and refusals will be maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse database.
