An excellent opportunity has become available to join a leader within the biogas industry as Process Engineer. The role is based in Irene Pretoria/Sasolburg.
Requirements:
- BEng or Meng Chemical Engineering
- 37 years experience as a Process Engineer
- Travel will be required
Responsibilities:
- Running anaerobic digestion lab trial using variety of feedstocks
- Feedstock preparation
- Feedstock profiling and testing
- Sample withdrawal from digester and profiling
- Biogas sampling and analysis
- Data capturing performance monitoring interpretation of results and reporting
- Feedback to biological specialists for further advice interpretation of advice and implementation of changes
- Understanding and optimising the plant process and equipment selection including the review verification and optimisation of deliverables from the outsourced process professionals as follows:
Process Design:
- Basis of Design
- Mass & Energy Balance
- PFD
- P&IDs
- Plant control philosophy
- HAZOP preparation facilitation and management of action list
- Sizing calculations and specifications for major equipment items
- Equipment specifications for major equipment items
- Equipment data sheets
- Electrical load list
- Equipment schedules (valves instruments etc.
- Process design report (i.e. assumptions calculations conclusions etc.
- Risk Assessment & Safety Study
- SCADA design and operability
- Develop operating cost model
Layout & Mechanical Design:
- Plant and overall site layout and ensure functionality
- GA drawings for plant buildings pump stations etc.
- Piping specifications
- Operability and maintenance access review
- Piping isometric line diagrams
- Piping thrust load and thermal expansion calculations
- Pipe schedules
- Pipe special fabrication drawings
- Drawings for pipe supports and pipe racks
- Hydraulic calculations & pump duty specification
- Civil guideline drawings
- Mechanical & Process guideline drawings for tanks and custom equipment
- Mechanical and Process equipment fabrication drawings
- Equipment access & support platform drawings for pricing
- Equipment access & support platform fabrication drawings
- Equipment servicing requirements such as gantries and chain blocks
- Site general mechanical specifications (e.g. painting guarding etc.
- Site constructability study
