Job Description

Overview

Dr. Huaqing Wangs lab in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at Utah State University is seeking a highly motivated and talented PostDoctoral Researcher (Postdoctoral Fellow I) to join our team and contribute to an exciting P20 NIH project focused on the intersection of greenspace climate change and human health.


Dr. Huaqing Wangs lab is looking for a talented postdoctoral researcher to join a major P20 NIH project exploring the relationship between greenspace climate change and human health. The project aims to understand and mitigate the impacts of climate change on human health through the enhancement and optimization of urban greenspaces. This interdisciplinary research requires the use of PythonGIS for spatial analysis and statistical methods in R. The position is initially for one year with the potential for an additional year.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced research in the fields of greenspace climate change and human health.
  • Utilize PythonGIS for geospatial analysis and modeling.
  • Apply statistical methods in R to analyze and interpret research data.
  • Collaborate with the project team on data collection fieldwork and literature reviews.
  • Prepare and submit research manuscripts to peerreviewed journals.
  • Present research findings at conferences and public forums.
  • Assist in the development of grant proposals for project sustainability.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Landscape Architecture City Planning Geography Public Health or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience using PythonGIS for geospatial analysis.
  • Proficiency in R for statistical analysis and data visualization.
  • A record of publications in the fields of greenspace and human health.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
