POSITION: Vehicle Servicing Mechanic

SALARY: $20.00 $23.63 per hour DOE

REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor

LOCATION: PSIS Nespelem WA

Basic Functions: This is a NonExempt position. Vehicle Servicing Mechanic position is responsible for performing a full range of preventative repairs of vehicles and buses. To include but not limited to: lubes and oil change routine maintenance of vehicles drive lines front ends transmissions motorsclutches and brake repair minor hardware repairs. Must have mechanical knowledge and experience in mechanics and servicing.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

  • Requires a High School Deploma or G.E.D.
  • Requires Training and /or experience in mechanics.
  • Must possess current Washington State Drivrs License.
  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR Card with 30 days of employment and keep certifications current.
  • Must pass Washington State Patrol Federal Bureau of Investigations and Colville Tribe criminal history background check.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires knowledge of standard practices techniques and tools used in servicing repairing and maintaining vehicles and buses.
  • Requires knowledge to change oil and filters.
  • Requires knowledge to provide minor repairs to the inside of the school vehicles.
  • Requires ability to winterized vehicles to include tires antifreeze radiators and heaters.
  • Requires ability to pull motors transmissions cluches ect.
  • Requires ability to do routine maintenance to lawnmowers snow blowers etc.
  • Requires ability to do minor mechanical hardware repairs.
  • Ability to assist with snow removal on campus on snow days.
  • Ability to assist the transportation supervisor in transporting of school vehicles off campus for necessary repairs.
  • Abilityto reports needs for additional vehichle repairs to the transportations supervisor.
  • Ability to participate in additional training if necessary to improve working skills.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to preemployment drug testing. In addition this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and postaccident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position you must possess and maintain avalid Washington State drivers license and be eligible for the Tribes Vehicle Insurance. In addition this position may be subject to preemployment background clearances. If applicable these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
