Suffolk Transportation Service Inc. has School Bus Charter Driver positions available for applicants who possess a clean Commercial Drivers License class B with S School and P Passenger endorsements. A Charter Driver is responsible for transporting authorized passengers to and from field trips sporting events and more in a safe and timely manner with directions provided. Shifts operate on weekdays; weekends are not required.
Qualifications
- This position requires proper CDL (CDL Class B with P and S endorsements).
- State school bus certifications including adhering to state and federal guidelines regarding criminal medical drug test and driving records
- Willing to drive to a variety of locations
- Need to be flexible with lastminute changes
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently
Responsibilities
- Operating a school bus to safely transport passengers while providing excellent customer service are the most important tasks of the charter driver
- Assess traffic and road conditions monitor passenger behavior and other factors as necessary
- Follow all state and federal traffic laws while operating the school bus
- Interact with teachers coaches students and coworkers in a friendly and professional manner
- Assist passengers onto and off the vehicle when necessary
- Perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections and safety checks as required by company standards and state guidelines
