Description

The Chief Nursing Officer Australian College of Nursing (ACN) is responsible for developing and promoting innovative and industryled professional practice strategies aligned to ACN Strategic Directions. This is achieved through the professional and operational leadership for the following portfolios within Professional Practice:


Professional Engagement including individual and organisational memberships and event functions;
Professional workforce and policy advisory;
Scholarships Administration; and
Institute of Leadership.

The Chief Nursing Officer will collaborate closely with the leadership across ACN and external stakeholders to identify key policy and professional issues. This includes leveraging relationships and expertise of ACN Regions and Faculties and the experience of its Fellows Members and Affiliate organisations.


The Chief Nursing Officer will lead the development of ACN positioning on health policy and nursing practice aligned to ACNs strategic priorities.


As the lead for ACNs Professional Practice this role is critical to ensure that the profession of nursing has the leadership capability and the policy framework to drive health care reform.



Skills And Experiences

Selection Criteria

Essential
Registered or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia regulated through Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
As a minimum a Masters qualification in Nursing/Leadership or equivalent.
Hold and maintain a current membership (or eligible for membership) with the Australian College of Nursing.
A nurse leader with demonstrated knowledge of the nursing industry and highlevel experience in a similar senior professional advisory role or executive level roles in healthcare.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with a dynamic and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills including evidence of developing establishing and maintaining effective relationships with staff membership and industry.
Proven welldeveloped interpersonal problem solving and management skills maintaining a high standard of work.
Experience in coordinating and/or leading and mentoring the activities of other staff with a focus on knowledge development promoting collaboration and shaping policy.
Active involvement in professional organisations and a commitment to ongoing professional development.


Desirable
A Fellow of ACN and demonstrated active involvement as a member contributing to its strategic priorities.
Experience in development of interjurisdictional / international collaboration.
