The Assistant Principal provides support to the Principal in overseeing daily educational operations and activities for adults in the Education Section of the Custody Support Division. This position observes classroom teaching techniques conducts research on education programs best practices and teaching methods and assists in developing and implementing new educational programs.

Position Qualifications

We recognize your time is valuable so please apply if you meet the following required qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Education; other degrees may qualify when combined with Masters Degree in Education.

Experience

  • Three 3 years of classroom teaching experience with a minimum of one year of experience teaching basic education classes to students age 16 years and above.

OR

Combined education and experience qualifications

  • Other combinations of advanced education and experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis.

Other requirements

  • Arizona State Department of Education Certification in adult education elementary secondary or special education.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona drivers license or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire.
  • Training that may be provided onthejob: FEMA NIMS IS100 and 700; Safety; Payroll; PREA.
  • Prior to hiring the Sheriffs Office requires that all candidates pass a background review.

Our Preferred Candidate has

  • Masters degree in Educational Leadership.
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience.
  • Lead supervisory or administrative experience working in the education field in grades 612.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certified; Positive Behavior Intervention and upport (PBIS) training.
