Key Responsibilities
Negotiate and document complex infrastructure project contracts including teaming agreements joint ventures and alternative delivery models (e.g. designbuild PPPs).
Lead build and mentor the North America legal team setting objectives and providing training to ensure high performance. This includes leveraging technology and our global resources to increase capacity and enhance contract review.
Leadership and participation in North America risk committees.
Advise executives and internal stakeholders on legal risks and regulatory issues applying effective risk management strategies.
Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Manage inregion legal matters and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
Provide strategic proactive solutions to commercial challenges and opportunities that align with business objectives.
Thought leadership on industryspecific legal developments and trends that impact our business.
Perform additional legal functions as required.
Role Expansion
For the right candidate now or in the future opportunities to engage more deeply in the following areas:
Operational governance such as delegations of authority.
Global risk committee management and leadership including of policies and procedures.
Global insurance program management in collaboration with other members of global legal and crossfunctional teams.
Global contracting in collaboration with members of the legal team of our parent company organization Sidara Collaborative.
Qualifications
DesignBuild Institute of America (DBIA) professional certification preferred but not required
Law degree; active member of a U.S. State or Canadian Provincial bar. Engineering or management credentials are a plus.
15 years in a commercial or project counsel role (inhouse and/or private practice).
Proven leadership in negotiating complex North American infrastructure contracts including alternative delivery models.
Experience leading developing and scaling inhouse legal teams including implementing policies processes using technology and developing innovative approaches to business problems.
Strong presence integrity and ability to engage across all levels of the organization.
Exceptional problemsolving communication and strategic thinking skills.
Good teammate to members of the global legal department and other business colleagues
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build relationships across the enterprise and to gain and maintain credibility with internal and external partners.
Willingness to travel as needed.
