Great news! DePaul Community Resources seeks a PartTime Child and Family Services Program Assistant in the Abingdon location.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Child and Family Services (CFS hereafter) Program Assistant will perform responsibilities across CFS programs at the IL apartment complex and in the community. The CFS Program Assistant will primarily provide transportation assistance to both the IL and CBS programs. This position will also provide oversight supervision crisis intervention and monitoring of the young adults placed in the IL program while onsite as well as during any outings training or transportation of IL young adults. Further the CFS Program Assistant will ensure policies are being followed and daily IL skills are being taught to and utilized by the young adults. The position is not assigned to an oncall rotation.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
The CFS Program Assistant will report directly to the Independent Living Supervisor.

Provide transportation for youth and young adults as needed using DePaul or personal vehicle
Manage emergencies and determine if IL Specialist or CBS staff assistance is necessary based on the nature of the emergencies
Maintain open communication with all Independent Living staff. (Foster Care and CBS staff as needed)
Assess and communicate day to day behavior and attitude of young adults to the IL staff
Assess the needs and strengths of the young adults and utilize this information to best meet their needs
Act as liaison between young adults in placement and IL staff regarding all aspects of the placement
Maintain positive professional relationships with coworkers referral agencies and community liaisons
Maintain a friendly relationship with the neighbors and the community as a whole
Provide supportive counseling to youth and young adults
Perform weekday checks to determine that policies and procedures are not violated and the safety of the young adults in the program is assured
Enforce program policies and landlord rules with all young adults and their guests
Report any maintenance problems to the IL Staff/Supervisor
Follow program and organization policies and procedures
Attend quarterly inservice training as appropriate and applicable
Participate in regular supervision to keep immediate supervisor informed of all significant developments with young adults participating in the program
Perform other duties as may be assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:
A high school diploma with one to two years of experience in the human services field is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described herein represent those an employee encounters while performing the positions essential functions. The employee regularly works in an office environment and frequently in the field. Due to the nature of the work the incumbent may be exposed to situations of a highly emotional nature; incumbents are expected to use verbal skills to resolve interpersonal situations to achieve desired results independently. Incumbents are exposed to various living situations and lifestyles. Daily work hours will vary and the ability to work evenings and weekends is a requirement. Completion of job duties outside of normally scheduled hours is required. Work is subject to frequent interruptions and noise levels are varied based on the work locations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that an employee in this position must meet with or without reasonable accommodations to perform the essential functions successfully. Physical activities required are finger dexterity necessary to operate equipment used in the position effective communication and seeing or hearing verbal cues. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
After a conditional job offer the following may be required: current DMV driving record with results that comply with insurer guidelines; drug and alcohol screening with satisfactory results stipulated by applicable governing funding or regulatory agencies; criminal and child protective services background report. The applicant shall not have been convicted of any barrier crime(s) on the criminal background report.
