Job Description

Progesys is a company recognized for its expertise in managing industrial projects and their optimal transition from construction to operation. The company is based in Laval (Canada) since 2002 and has offices in the United States the Middle East Asia and South America.

Progesys is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer for a mining project in Timmins working on a 14/14 rotation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Corrective and Predictive Maintenance activities at a Gold Mine
  • Hitachi Substation maintenance and reliability (Reactive Power/Voltage Control familiarity with SVCs etc.
  • Mainly MV/LV (Medium Voltage/Low Voltage Equipment infield HV in Substation to maintain)
  • 60MW electrical system overall to maintain
  • Schneider Protection Relay/Switchgear/VFD familiarity
  • ABB VFD Drive Maintenance troubleshooting and reliability (ACS 1000/2000/6000
  • Management of Change/Projects design and review
  • PLC Logic/Protection Relay settings and troubleshooting
  • Instrumentation and Controls (Endress & Houser and various items (Level Transmitters/Plugged Chute Detectors etc.
  • Mining background and familiarity with Mining Equipment
  • Obvious proficiency with drawings and documentation (SLDs/Schematics/GAs etc)
  • Proficient in Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Office/Teams
  • Potential past relationships with IESO (Ontario Power Authority)
  • Familiarity with Wajax backup Diesel Generator and Black Start Procedures etc.
  • Team Player able to provide technical guidance and knowledge to Mill Electrical Maintenance Team.
  • Able to manage working under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working in an operating Mine (brownfield experience).

    Requirements:

    • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in mining or heavy industrial projects.
    • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
    • Experience with power distribution motor controls and automation systems.
    • Ability to work onsite in a 14/14 rotation.
    • Excellent communication skills for clientfacing interactions and crossfunctional collaboration.
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple MOC works concurrently.
    • Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and safety regulations specific to electrical and instrumentation systems.
