Job Description
This position participates in a broad range of activities that support the mission vision core values and purposes of the school of nursing and its consortium partners. Faculty members at PHSSN are responsible and accountable for ensuring the attainment of the goals mission and vision of the school of nursing and its consortium partners. Successful performance of this role requires excellent classroom clinical and professional proficiency management leadership organizational aptitude and excellent interpersonal communication. In addition faculty are accountable and responsible for ensuring program compliance with the standards and guidelines set forth by the Texas Board of Nursing and other accrediting agencies. Ultimately the continued pursuit of academic excellence in all settings is central to this role. This position reports directly to the Graduate Program Chair unless otherwise specified in supplemental job description. The job is sedentary in nature. Must be able to sit for long periods of time while performing office and computer operations. Must be able to stand and walk during teaching and clinical site visits. Must be able to make frequent trips across campus to various buildings and offices.
Required Qualifications
The faculty must meet the minimum requirements for employment in the Baccalaureate in Nursing BSN and Masters in Nursing MSN program as required by the Texas Board of Nursing TXBON rule 215.7 ; Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education CCNE and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools SACS Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge clinical expertise and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility Hold an MSN PostMasters Certificate or DNP as a Family Nurse Practitioner; Doctoral degree preferred. Computer literacy including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel and willingness to learn to use university software and online educational platforms. CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS : Hold current board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through either the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program AANPCP or the American Nurses Credentialing Center ANCC . Hold a current unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice RN Family Nurse Practitioner in the State of Texas. Certified Nurse Educator CNE certification preferred or can obtain after employment LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations COMPUTER SKILLS : To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Payroll systems; Order processing systems; Internet software etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in nursing education preferred.
