Tasks
Make waste pickups at labs as needed.
Prepare computergenerated packing lists labels manifests and land disposal restrictions notifications.
Identify unknown laboratory chemicals when they are encountered.
Perform inspections of staging accumulating and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance.
Inspect storage area for leaks or spills.
Inspect drums for compliance with labeling regulations.
Collect segregate and properly package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
Sampling and profiling of new waste streams or any wastes needing analytical testing.
Prepare all necessary tracking paperwork.
Utilize CHOICE waste management software to efficiently and accurately manage waste program.
Assign proper waste codes to all materials that are designated for disposal.
Maintain and manage waste profile data.
Evaluate specialty waste materials such as gas cylinders and potentially explosive compounds and determine disposal options.

Required/Preferred Education Description Major/Specialization
Required 2 years college or specialized training Chemistry/Biology/Environmental Science/Related
Experience:3 to 5 years
Alternative:Alternative combinations of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
Required/Preferred Certificate or License
Required 40 Hour OSHA Training.
Required Forklift Training and certification.
Required Reactive Materials certification.
Required DOT Training.
Required CleanPack Chemist Training Course.
Required LICENSES: Valid drivers license with clean driving record *see definition below) Commercial drivers licenseClass B/C with hazardous materials (preferred)
Required Clean Driving record for the purposes of CHESI employment includes: No more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years No DUI/DWI in past 3 years No preventable accidents in the past year No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years No serious moving violations in past 3 years i.e. Reckless driving Driving to endanger Open alcohol containers etc.
