Job Description
We are seeking a Janitor to join our Maintenance Division.
This person will be responsible for performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that buildings and surrounding areas are clean safe and wellmaintained. The Janitor will carry out cleaning duties in an efficient organized and timely manner ensuring that all areas meet hygiene and cleanliness standards.
Typical Functions:
- Sweep mop and vacuum floors in offices hallways restrooms and other areas.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces including furniture countertops and windowsills.
- Clean restrooms including toilets sinks mirrors and replenish supplies such as soap paper towels and toilet paper.
- Empty trash cans and dispose of waste in designated disposal areas.
- Perform basic repairs such as fixing broken fixtures changing light bulbs and reporting major repair needs.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies ensuring they are in good working order.
- Clean and maintain carpets floors and tiles including stripping waxing and buffing as necessary.
- Ensure that all flooring is in a safe condition (e.g. removing slippery substances from the floor to avoid accidents).
- Follow safety protocols for handling cleaning chemicals and materials.
- Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
- Ensure that all areas comply with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment like vacuums floor buffers etc.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
Skills:
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and staff.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Time Management: Efficient in completing cleaning tasks within assigned time frames.
