Job Summary:

The Cardiac Progressive Care Unit provides comprehensive care for critical ill children and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease. The unit cares for preterm infants neonates with complex disease all age children and the adult congenital population. The unit is committed to service excellence and a model of interdisciplinary care.

  • 34 total beds.
  • Dedicated pediatric cardiacspecialized nurses.
  • CPCU attendings and vital core of advanced care providers.
  • Active mechanical assist program.
  • Active member and participant in PC3.
  • Extensive opportunities for clinical translational and acute care registries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides care for patients admitted to the CPCU. These patients are admitted through the CHC emergency department transferred from outside institutions direct admissions and transfers from the CICU.
  • Experience and familiarity with heart disease in patients from neonates to adults with congenital heart disease.
  • Supervision of patient care and progression in partnership with Advanced Practice Providers pediatric cardiology fellows pediatric residents and medical students.
  • Partnership with cardiology nursing leadership and bedside nurses.
  • Develop implement and promote educational and support resources.
  • Participate in PAC3 multiinstitutional database and liaison with like institutions and units.
  • Develop clinical guideline pathways and quality improvement initiatives.

Onsite this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD)/Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Board Certified in Pediatrics.
  • Board Eligible/Certified in Pediatric Cardiology.

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Childrens Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of pediatric cardiology fellowship with experience in neonates with complex and single ventricle physiology.

  • Must be able to be flexible collaborative within the Heart Institute and other areas within CHCO
