What were looking for

The Billing and Payments team is a multinational engineering team that creates and maintains the software platform for SurveyMonkeys global payments and billing systems. Our primary focus is to ensure that our customers enjoy a secure checkout experience.

This year we are expanding the team to work on an exciting new integration with Stripe to allow us to enhance the experience for our customers. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer who has a passion for solving complex and interesting problems. In this role you will deliver innovative products and services at a rapid pace.

• Contribute to a system that will be used in over 200 countries. Our ecommerce platform handles 39 different currencies and were always looking to integrate with new payment service providers to optimize our growth and business.

• Manage scale and reliability. With customers all around the world our services have to be up and running all the time. The system you will be working on supports the entire selfserve purchasing flow of all of the SurveyMonkey suite of products.
• Were a company that loves to make decisions with data. Were a peoplepowered data company for a reason. We want to build a payment platform that can support A/B testing.
• Work very closely with product managers and designers to build features that streamline checkout and pricing experiences for our portfolio of products.
• You will be using a variety of technologies such as Python React and Docker.

What youll be working on

• Architect build and maintain scalable services across multiple data regions
• Identify opportunities for process automation efficiency improvements and cost reduction within the billing and payment workflows.
• Evaluate recommend and implement billing and payment technologies and platforms (e.g. subscription billing invoicing payment gateway solutions).
• Ensure that products and solutions comply with relevant industry standards security protocols and regulations.
• Domain ownership of a suite of services supporting Billing and Payment solutions.
• Own features end to end including authoring reviewing and approving requirements and technical specs for several concurrently running project
• Write highquality backend readable and extensible code and follow software best practices which allow us to move quickly
• Propose and implement viable processes and measurement solutions within the function; research external solutions and propose adoption strategies.
• Build observable systems that track important metrics that help monitoring as well as make important product decisions
• Act as a planning consultant to product and technology leaders and make recommendations with Return on investment in mind.
• Investigate propose and solve complex algorithmic and optimization issues; earn recognition and act within the function as an expert
• Foster a culture of collaboration knowledge sharing design and code reviews testing and mentorship to help the team reach their full potential
• Contribute to the success of the team through your technical work experience and leadership.
• Continuously build and expand your own technical expertise as well as drive excellence in engineering within the team.

Wed love to hear from people with

• 12 years of experience in application development mainly focused on the backend
• Familiarity with ecommerce & payment applications
• Experience leading and shipping largescale crossfunctional projects
• Deep expertise in designing and building worldclass services and APIs
• Proficiency with serverside languages such as Python
• Proficiency with relational databases.
• Experience working with ORM Frameworks and SQL/NoSQL Databases
• Experience with messaging and streaming frameworks like Kafka Apache Spark etc.
• Experience building cloudnative applications using AWS
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both colocated and remote engineers and crossfunctional partners
• A growth/data mindset in approaching challenges
• Any experience in leading integration efforts between billing systems ERP systems payment gateways and external financial systems.
