Job Description
Formlabs was started to make 3D printing much more accessible and easy to use for a range of professionals. Founded by 3 MIT graduates in 2011 in Boston today it is at over $200M revenue 800 people worldwide and still in growth mode. The companys products cover Stereolithography (SLA) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology with an endtoend system of printer hardware materials and software. It has now shipped more than 130000 professional 3D printers more than any other company in the world. Formlabs serves customers in every industry that makes plastic parts from consumer electronics to aerospace to dentistry.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Manager to lead and optimize operations at our Ohiobased manufacturing facility. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence fostering a culture of safety and compliance and delivering strategic business goals. The Plant Manager will oversee key aspects of site management including production personnel development financial performance and crossfunctional collaboration with a strong focus on continuous improvement. This position is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact within the dynamic and growing field of 3D printing resin manufacturing.
The Job:
- Actively drive and exemplify company strategies to build a strong culture of operational excellence including Safety Health and Environment (SHE) compliance reliability efficiency and capital effectiveness.
- Develop and oversee the budget for production personnel costs and strategic projects.
- Monitor and control costs to ensure adherence to budget targets and overall financial efficiency.
- Develop and implement profitdriven longterm site strategies with a focus on risk mitigation innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure smooth and efficient operations in compliance with legal and internal standards.
- Foster the growth and development of employees and their skills to meet evolving site and business requirements in line with the companys expansion goals.
- Utilize lean management tools to achieve sustainable and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with R&D QC and Engineering teams to align product development plans and resource requirements with business objectives and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Work closely with Supply Chain Fulfillment Procurement and Finance teams to optimize inventory levels minimize working capital and ensure ontime delivery of highquality products to customers.
- Lead and manage 4 departments with a total of 50 employees fostering a collaborative and performanceoriented work culture.
- Partner with crossfunctional teams to support innovation and production efficiency within the 3D printing resin manufacturing process.
You:
- Degree in engineering chemistry or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior production/manufacturing role.
- Proven track record in implementing cultural and operational change initiatives.
- Experience with lean management practices and continuous improvement frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop employees across all levels of the organization.
Bonus Points:
- Experience developing and executing strategic projects to support the continuous growth and development of the plant.
- Proven ability to align and implement business strategies effectively across multiple departments.
- Demonstrated success in driving cultural transformation and organizational change.
- Familiarity with safety systems such as OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) or equivalent.
