Job Description:High School Math Teacher

Direct Supervisor:Principal or designee

Position Summary:

The primary responsibilities are to provide support in the instructional process by serving as a facilitator of learning developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers other professional staff and administrators in addressing classroom and school issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from parents or guardians regarding academic and socialemotional issues. The ideal candidate has experience with the workshop model and projectbased learning. The teacher must be a hardworking goaloriented and enthusiastic professional with excellent subject knowledge and a sound understanding of the Missouri Learning Standards and Common Core Standards. The teacher is a motivated individual with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to love learning and excel both academically and socially. The teacher collaborates with staff to coplan codeliver and individualize instruction for all students in a class; work together creatively to accommodate special needs diversity and educational backgrounds of the students; and overcome instructional challenges constructively. The teacher is a hardworking goaloriented and enthusiastic professional with excellent subject knowledge and a sound understanding of the Missouri Learning Standards and Common Core Standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Establish weekly objectives that align to the Common Core Standards and Missouri Learning Standards.
  • Facilitate handson activities and projects that allow students to learn by doing and exploring.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom.
  • Use discipline models of BIST and Restorative Justice to maintain a positive encouraging learning environment.
  • Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Identify selects and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds learning styles and special needs.
  • Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.
  • Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures.
  • Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with students parents and other professionals on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students parents peers and community.
  • Assume responsibility for meeting his/her course and schoolwide student performance goals.
  • Demonstrate gains in student performance.
  • Participate in meetings training and professional development
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines honoring schedules coordinating etc.
  • Act in a professional and ethical manner at all times and comply with school policies procedures and expectations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and analyze and interpret general professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports general curriculum and learning theories correspondence and protocols. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators staff parents students and the general public.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students peers parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.
