CAHSS/School of Social & Political Sciences/Social Work

Fulltime: 35 hours per week

Openended (permanent) from August 2025

The Opportunity:

You will provide leadership in practice learning to develop Social Work within Edinburgh Scotland and beyond. Practice learning is a central component of social work education; it is vital therefore that the post holder contributes to and manages the delivery and organisation of practice learning programmes (UG PG and postqualifying) and the strategic enhancement for practice learning within the local and global context.

This post is open ended from August 2025.

This post is fulltime 35 hours per week). We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a noncontractual basis) that combines a mix of remote within the UK and regular oncampus working.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A relevant degree and/or a professional profile with demonstrable achievements in teaching and learning in Practice Learning in Social Work
  • A relevant social work qualification and practice experience in social work/social care and experience of knowledge exchange.
  • Ability to design and deliver effective programmes in practice learning and to effectivelymanage integrated curricula and assessment.
  • Extensive experience of developing and applying theory models and methods as appropriate to Social Work.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills and ability to develop and maintain networks and successfully negotiate arrangements with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Full awareness of regulatory frameworks and regulations governing social work education internal and external to the University.

This post sits within the Social Work subject area one of 7 academic Subject Areas in the School of Social and Political Science.
