JOB SUMMARY
As part of UConns ongoing commitment to create and maintain a campus environment free from all forms of discrimination and harassment including all forms of sexual harassment and violence the position of Title IX Compliance and Education Specialist plays a significant role in the Universitys coordinated response prevention and education initiatives pursuant to Title IX and related statutes and regulations.
This is a fulltime permanent confidential position. Work is performed in a typical office environment. The position requires inperson presence in OIEs Storrs campus office and will require presence at UConn Health and all regional campuses as needed.
Reporting to the Title IX Coordinator the Title IX Compliance and Education Specialists responsibilities include:
- Conducting intake meetings and managing records of reports to OIE of sex discrimination sexual sexual harassment stalking and intimate partner violence.
- Assisting in OIEs activities related to evaluation and assessment of the Universitys Title IX program.
- Creating and delivering educational programs and activities related to Title IX.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Intake reports from faculty staff students and community members of alleged sexbased discrimination including sexual harassment sexual stalking and intimate partner violence and work directly with various campus offices to ensure appropriate response.
- Maintain case files in OIEs case management system for each matter reported to OIE involving sexual misconduct.
- Track cases of sexual misconduct reported to the University and report systemic problems related to complaints to the Title IX Coordinator.
- Prepare and maintain statistical demographic and subject matter data related to Title IX complaints and trends including quarterly reports the drafting of annual state legislative reports and preparing such figures and data for widespread publication and distribution.
- Assist in OIEs efforts to evaluate and assess the Universitys Title IX program and to gather information about University community members awareness of and experiences relating to sexual harassment and related interpersonal violence; including assisting with planning and administering surveys and other tools to gather information and processing and analyzing responses.
- Create and deliver OIEs Title IXrelated educational trainings initiatives and programs; including developing and delivering customized educational programs for student groups employees and other members of the University community.
- Participate in university programs and activities including informational resource fairs for students and employees.
- Create and distribute written and/or digital Title IX informational materials.
- Assist in developing content and perform ongoing maintenance to UConns Title IX at UConn resources and reporting website . including information relevant to the regional campuses and UConn Health.
- Participate in University committees and other meetings as assigned by the Title IX Coordinator.
- Maintain ongoing review of federal guidance on Title IX and related state legislation to assist the Title IX Coordinator in identifying and implementing compliance standards and best practices concerning sexual violence awareness prevention and response in higher education.
- Performs other special projects and duties as assigned by the Title IX Coordinator and OIE leadership.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree.
- Experience designing or facilitating training or educational programs.
- Proficiency with office administration and coordination of general office business functions including demonstrated strong skills in Microsoft Word Excel and Power Point.
- Professional writing skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters Degree in relevant field.
- Working knowledge of Title IX regulatory requirements in a higher education setting.
- Professional verbal communication skills.
- Experience maintaining files in a case management system.
- Professional experience working with issues of genderbased discrimination harassment or interpersonal violence.
- Professional experience working in a Title IXrelated process in a higher education setting (for example participating in the intake/reporting investigation or adjudication process).
- Experience preparing written and/or digital informational materials including website content.
- Experience assisting with the creation of annual published reports including compilation of large amounts of data and creation of executive summaries.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and function well in both leader and teammate roles.
- Prior completion of sexual violence prevention and/or response training with a nationally recognized organization.
