ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the worlds largest humanitarian agency working to create a world with zero hunger. WFP and its partners believe that no child should go to bed hungry and that individual and collective wellbeing can only be achieved if all children women and men get the nutritious food they need to lead healthy dignified lives. Each year WFP assists 90 million people in 83 countries. Every day some 5600 WFPchartered trucks are on the road 92 planes are in the air and 20 ships are at sea. These numbers speak to WFPs unparalleled reputation as an emergency responder one that is often the first on the scene in the most difficult environments. WFP also works with partners to strengthen the resilience of communities most vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition through longterm development programmes aimed at boosting food security local economies education employment and gender equality. While hunger and malnutrition are the worlds largest solvable issues the needs are still immense and growing. 821 million people in the world suffer from chronic hunger.
The Private Partnerships Division (PSP) is responsible for working with the private sector to achieve greater impact in WFPs work. PSP has embarked on an exceptionally ambitious new strategy to raise an additional one billion dollars for hungry or malnourished people in the next five years and to expand the contribution to WFP from the business sector through effective and sustainable longterm partnerships as well as from private individual supporters around the world. This includes securing new high impact technical partnerships signing significant new corporate deals and growing existing relationships as well as building a base of one million individual supporters.
PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
WFP is committed to growing private sector fundraising with a focus on individual giving. It is recognized as a fundraising channel that has been successfully used by other UN agencies for whom it generates the bulk of their private sector income. In addition individual giving can provide a high proportion of unrestricted income which is critical to supporting the longterm goals of country strategic plans (CSPs). The Private Partnerships Division (PSP) is committed to foster individual giving as a significant strategy for growth during 202530
The proposed focus of the development of individual giving is through a digitalfirst strategy and as part of this WFP is upgrading its systems and infrastructure to receive and process donations from individuals as well as the systems to store and manage supporter information. The aim being that WFP can engage with supporters in their preferred channels and maximize their longterm support for the cause of zero hunger through frictionless constituent experience.
WFP has selected a range of technology components to support this strategy which is delivered through a customized SaaS fundraising platform to securely collect supporter information and payment; Stripe PayPal and GoCardless as payment systems; Salesforce as a supporter data repository and user interface; Salesforce Marketing Cloud for marketing automation; AWS Redshift as a data warehouse and configuring dashboards in Tableau for data visualization.
This role provides the opportunity to develop on their career as Developer in the team there will be opportunity to work closely with more experienced team members to develop skills across a broad range of platforms however a base set skills is required of the successful applicant to ensure that they can be trusted to work with limited supervision when required.
The successful applicant for this role will join a motivated flexible and busy team liaising with stakeholders throughout the department supporting the team in delivering the technical solutions that underpin successful fundraising campaigns dealing with issues and outages as necessary to ensure the success of the wider team in achieving supporter and revenue targets.
Reporting Lines
The Developer will report directly to the IG Tech Lead and work closely with the Salesforce Developer.
ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Working as directed key responsibilities will include support of the Operational and Data Integrity related tasks
Properly and accurately document work of the team and prepare material to support training of IG team members in the use of technical applications
Perform archiving documentation and folder association of critical aspects of Sharepoint use by the Tech Team
Take control of assigned tasks through effective management and update of Asana
Participate in team meetings to agree on and suggest priorities approach to work and potential solutions taking ownership of assigned actions
Check front end systems to report on performance support with review of fault and bug tickets to ensure effective triage or resolution of issues as appropriate
Responsible for daily reporting designed to support the effective decision making of the Acquisition team through high availability of reports communicating as needed if issues are identified
Review operational reports in Salesforce to ensure data is aligned for attribution and escalate problematic issues as needed
Review export/import scripts/reports for accuracy and alignment to standards
Perform regular data integrity monitoring and notify team of errors and issues
Document changes to systems or processes including but not limited to: Asana Salesforce
Support activity relating to the effective operating of processes supporting the wider IG team
Undertake assigned tasks in support of systems and data migration to ensure the data is aligned
Support the Acquisition and SX by checking the alignment between meta and campaign setup
Support testing activities including UAT for
Marketing Cloud campaigns
Salesforce use cases and advancements to workflows and processes
GoDonate use cases
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT
Effective data transfers for third party partners Maecenata and GDG clear and accurate data that would allow generation of tax receipts by the third parties and reporting.
Contribution to:
The development of data warehouse replication to allow testing and UAT of changes to reporting that may impact delivery agree actions and ensure sign off before moved to live.
The delivery of the data privacy project including but not limited to: Facebook CAPI automated uploads advertising studio and cookie banner development.
The development and maintenance of the updated technology roadmap
Participation in the Donor Portal type activity to ensure optimum experience for WFP supporters.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education
University degree or relevant educational certificate in Computer Science IT Engineering Professional Software Engineer Business Administration or STEM discipline.
Experience and hard skills
Minimum 3 years of professional experience of development role through internships or similar working in an international setting working with multiple teams stakeholders.
Understanding of working with Salesforce Stripe donation platforms Browserstack Asana Sharepoint and other Microsoft applications
Performing site content data checks and updates. Reporting and escalation of potential issues which could impact report accuracy or performance
Experience of the following would be an advantage Advanced Web Development and Web Design: (HTML / CSS) and Data Structures & AlgorithmsBasic Programming (Java / JavaScript / PHP / MySQL / C)Advanced Programming on AngularJS Spring Boot/ Spring Data MongoDB
Proficient communication organisational and coordination skills.
