The proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine at Xavier University (XUCOM) a Catholic University in the Jesuit tradition invites applications for a 12month nontenuretrack position beginning in July 2025.The Department Chair of Basic Sciences (DCBS) will coordinate the curricular and scholarly activities of the four basic science divisions within the Basic Sciences Department. The DCBS will serve as the Division Chair of Biochemistry/Nutrition. Direct reports include the Division Chairs of Anatomy Physiology/Pharmacology and Pathology/Immunology/Microbiology. The DCBS works closely with the Division Chairs the Clinical Sciences Department Chair and the Associate Dean of Curriculum Assessment and Quality. The DCBS is involved in strategic planning and student recruitment/admissions activities. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Faculty and Medical Programs.

Qualifications
A PhD in biochemistry or a similar discipline. A minimum of 5 years of progressive responsibility leading curriculum development and mentoring junior faculty is required. Preference will be given to candidates with leadership experience as a Program Director and/or Assistant/Associate Dean. Experience with accreditation for medical schools and a robust research portfolio are desirable.
