Position Summary
The Center on Disabilities and Human Development CDHD administered through the College of Education Health and Human Sciences EHHS at the University of Idaho seeks applications for a dynamic and visionary executive director to oversee all aspects of CDHD functions: Oversee all programmatic development and functions of the CDHD in meeting the needs of people with disabilities their families advocates and policy makers across the state. Provide leadership and innovation to assure that the CDHD responds to identified state needs and national policy to promote community inclusion and independence for people with disabilities. Secure and sustain external funds to grow existing programs and develop new areas of expertise in education communitybased training service and research. Lead faculty and staff in a centerwide scholarship agenda across outreach training service evaluation and research activities that result in scholarly peerreviewed publications and presentations. Collaborate with university faculty and administration to promote and facilitate an integrated approach to solving important societal issues and forging new relationships across disciplines. Form partnerships with people with disabilities and their families other higher education institutions state agencies advocacy groups interdisciplinary communitybased service providers and policy makers to achieve program goals and create new opportunities. Monitor and delegate responsibilities regarding fiscal management facilities equipment management personnel policies and reporting; and serve as liaison with the Association of University Centers on Disabilities and 67 other UCEDDs/ LEND programs across the U.S. and territories. Participate as a faculty member in a department aligned with a specific field of study and associated research interests. This is a clinical faculty nontenure track appointment. Salary will include an administrative stipend.
Required Qualifications
Earned terminal degree from an accredited university in a discipline appropriate to interdisciplinary fields of study that promote the education integration and health and wellbeing of people with disabilities across the age span (e.g. education psychology sociology policy allied medical fields health and wellness). Demonstrated expertise leadership and commitment in the field of disabilities. Experience cultivating a culture of scholarship productivity in outreach research and/or policy development. Demonstrated ability to leverage and manage public and private funds. Experience building relationships to advance partnership within and among university systems state and federal agencies policy makers advocacy groups people with disabilities and families.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs) and/or related interdisciplinary research education and services organizations. Experience in collaborative transparent and unifying leadership. Experience in forward collaborative and innovative strategic planning. Experience advocating for and supporting the needs of people with disabilities and their families across complex service systems. Demonstrated commitment to maintain a work environment that encourages knowledge of respect for and development of skills to effectively engage with individuals from diverse communities.
