Job Description

The teacher works under the direction of the Principal: responsible for the instruction of assigned students within the parameters of the District philosophy curriculum policy and procedure.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Meetsand instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the timesdesignated.
  2. Plansa program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students.
  3. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  4. Preparesfor classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
  5. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  6. Guidesthe learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goal establishes clear objectives for all lessonsunits projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  7. Employsa variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  8. Strives to implement by instruction and action the Districts philosophy ofeducation and instructional goals and objectives.

  9. Assessesthe accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  10. Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis seeking theassistance of District specialists as required.
  11. Takesall necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  12. Maintains accurate complete and correct records as required by law District policy and administrative regulation.
  13. Assiststhe administration in implementing all policies and rules governingstudent life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonablerules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroomin a fair and just manner.
  14. Makesprovision for being available to students and parents for educationrelated purposes outside the instructional day when required orrequested to do so under reasonable terms.
  15. Plansand supervises purposeful assignments for instructional assistant(s) and volunteer(s) and cooperatively with department heads evaluates their job performances.
  16. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  17. Attendsstaff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

  1. B.S./B.A.
  2. Valid and appropriate Oregon TeachingLicense.
  3. HighlyQualified as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act.
  4. Knowledgeof teaching principles/techniques District philosophy curriculum policy and procedure governing classroom instruction.
  5. Skill in assessing planning and implementing programs of study for students that will contribute to their development as mature able and responsiblemen and women.
  6. Abilityto apply effective principles of teaching to direct and motivate students.
  7. Abilityto be responsible for the learning environment of assigned students and for supervising assigned teacher assistants and volunteers.
