Job Description

Supervisor of Medical Assistants
This position is a working supervisor of CompDrugs Medical Assistants. This role will provide trauma informed and respectful care to our patients from the admissions process throughout routine follow up appointments. These services will include processing ordered labs administering diagnostic tests including ECGs and alcomonitors rooming patients and ensuring the accurate documentation of services provided. The supervisor will also be responsible for maintaining a logbook to ensure that proper servicing of equipment has been performed.

  • 100 Core work hours
  • Monday through Friday 5:45 am 2 pm
  • Saturday 5:45 am 9:30 am 12 per month)
  • Directly SupervisesMedical Assistants
    • Provides direction and ongoing feedback including performance reviews
    • Fosters professional growth and development including onboarding new staff
    • Supports team members in problem solving and conflict resolution
    • Actively participates in the recruitment process for the team
    • Trains department staff on all procedures
    • Maintains staff schedule for the department
    • Create and maintain schedules approve PTO and designate coverage
    • Ensure all policies and procedures are followed conducting investigations and performance management when needed
  • Maintain Department Supplies and Maintenance of Equipment
    • Order and maintain consumable toxicology supplies
    • Ensure scheduled maintenance is performed on breathalyzer machines ECG machines vital machine per manufacturer specifications.
    • Maintain log of equipment service Monitor the cleanliness and organization of the toxicology area
  • Regularly engaged in direct medical assistant duties
  • Performs Diagnostic monitored specimen collection
    • Follow chain of custody procedures
    • Pack and ship specimen collection to an outside laboratory
    • Enter ordered toxicology tests in the electronic health record
    • Report suspected falsification of a specimen report variances of concern for falsification of a collected specimen
    • Document as appropriate in the electronic health record
    • Process ordered lab work completing blood draws
    • Administer ECGs
    • Facilitate breathalyzer collection
    • Check in patients escorts patients to exam room obtain vitals status/history update and relevant screening questions
    • Dispense and log Narcan
    • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Participate in the annual BCI and FBI background check processes
  • Maintain required professional licensure/credentials as related to essential duties
  • Medical Department Support
    • Updates and maintains patient records in the electronic health record
    • Completes prior authorizations in collaboration with providers
    • Answers phone calls and provides other administrative support to the medical staff
    • Maintains safe secure and healthy work environment
    • Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to established privacy practices in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
    • Maintains job knowledge by participating in required continuing educational opportunities
    • Maintains certification and continuing education
    • Regular and timely attendance
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Communication/Coordination with Laboratory services
    • CompDrug contact to internal lab and external partner lab
    • Coordinates lab services
    • Communicates with director of laboratory services or designee from time to time
      • Ensures validity of collection process
      • Ensures validity of reporting
      • Works to maintain quality control
  • Qualifications
    • LPN or Certified Medical Assistant or ability to obtain certification within one year
    • Preference for 2 years experience in medical or lab setting
    • Previous work in phlebotomy and comfort level with performing phlebotomy procedures.
    • Strong preference for at least 2 years experience supervising team members with experience in performance feedback deescalation and problem solving participation in the recruitment process
    • Excellent computer skills including electronic health record and Microsoft Office
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Previous experience in a fast paced highvolume clinic setting. Mental Health or addiction experience preferred.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with a high levelof initiative.
    • Solid computer skills including experience with electronic health record and Microsoft office.
    • Ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals in sometimes stressful situations.
    • Ability to bring empathy and compassion to a vulnerable population while maintaining boundaries
